If Johnson keeps throwing strikes, I think the Sox should get agressive and start swinging first pitch. He really is throwing all fastbals early and then goes breaking stuff late. fathom Posted July 24, 2004 Share Posted July 24, 2004 This game is an example of why Schoeneweis can't be an effective starter in the majors. He struggles to get righties out, and the Tigers have 9 righties in their lineup. Even if SS pitches good, he'll likely give up 4 runs in 6 innings. An example of this is the Rangers game. Everyone is saying how great he pitched, yet he still gave up 4 runs in 5.3 innings. Not exactly a quality start for major league pitchers.
