Jon Garland and Joe Crede

Garland and Crede have been big disappointments this year. It seems as though the organization and this website has had all they can handle of these two. I'm telling you though, to not give up on them yet. For Crede, look at Adrian Beltre, he was a huge bust and all of a sudden he is one of the best hitters in the league. it takes time and patience. This is only Crede's 2nd full season in the big leagues. As for Garland, he is only 24. Because he was brought up so early, many believe he is some sort of veteran. A lot of pitchers in this league don't even make it to the big leagues until they are 25. He is still a young kid and the talent is there for him to be a very good pitcher. I hope that the organization doesn't trade either one of them this year of any year in the future because they are going to be great players in this league.

Garland, IMO, hasn't been a dissappointment. He's been erratic, that's for sure, but other than that start vs. Philly, most of his starts have been average to better than average. I just want to start seeing a bit more consistency out of Jon, and hopefully that will come as he ages.

I for one am not giving up. I'd like Crede to shorten his swing and lay off the breaking balls in the dirt.

As far as Garland, he was lights out for a pretty long stretch. Now he has had two bad starts in a row, but for the most part kept the team in it at the same time.

I have a lot of faith in both of them and wouldn't give up Garland for many people and as far as Crede, would only give him up for an ace that will be here for a while or for a position player that would be here for a while. It goes without saying that the players got in return would have to be very good.

Someone called the postgame show yesterday and called Garland a "woman in a man's body." :o It seems that every time he allows a couple base runners, he loses composure and allows them to score! When he's dealing, he's dealing and is unhittible. Unfortunately, we've seen more of the previous than the later of late. He should spend extra time with Coop to work on his changeup, and learn to settle down after allowing men on base.

As for Crede, I think all he needs is more time in the batting cages. Outside a few errors, he's been pretty good on the field (not quite Ventura-like, but who is?). He CAN tear the cover off the ball, and he CAN play "small ball" as well, but just needs to work more closely with Walker.

Both of them have the capability of being world-class players at their positions. They just gotta practice a little more and work on their mentality/approach.
