BobDylan
I know he was taken to the hospital, and perhaps it was posted and I missed it, but does anyone know the condition of Burke?
aboz56
I'm sure he's fine, he's a big boy. That's probably not even the worst collision he's had.

Didn't we have a catcher in the last 10 years nearly die from a homeplate collision? He had somekind of internal bleeding that they didn't catch at first IIRC??? GoArow33
Wasn't he in the dugout talking about it during the bottom of that inning?

I don't know that it was play-related but a couple of springs ago with the Orioles he nearly died from intenal abdominal bleeding. His wife heard him fall hard in the middle of the night and found him lying unconcious in the bathroom IIRC. Other than that, I'm not sure. I could have sworn that the Sox had a catcher rolled at home plate, and ended up missing the rest of the year afterwards. But I might be mixing up stories too. Looks like I had half of the story right. http://www.dickiethon.com/~eczajka/kreuter.htm Was that the one where it didn't look like anything serious right away, but actually popped his shoulder out of place? And then Kreuter popped the shoulder back into place?
FlaSoxxJim
Mike, Chad Kreuter I'm pretty sure, wasn't it? Broken shoulder, something like that? Ouch! Yeah, I hemember seeing the replay of that collision now that you said it. I didn't even remember that - must be getting old... It sure was a heck of a lot harder following the team from afar back in 1996, with newspaper box scores, the token WGN broadcast here and there, no Extra Innings cable package, and NO SOXTALK.
