TLAK
A couple interesting names popped up in Charlotte's pitching line last night. They played a double header so it was a 7 inning game. CHARLOTTE J Stewart (W,6-7) 6 2-3 7 1 1 1 4 1 K Wunsch (S,0) 1-3 0 0 0 0 1 0 They started Josh on a very short leash this year, good to see him go deep into a game with success. He's now 7-7 with a 3.85 era. Also good to see Kelly's name in the box score, the 1 is a K. These guys could be very good quality September call ups. My fingers remain crossed about seeing Frank and Maggs back too. If the boys can stay alive through August and get some luck with the injuries they can make a run for it. Chisoxfn
One other thing to note about Stewart is he's bene pitching his ass of as of late. His previous two starts were very good as well. Stewart and Wunsch are a few guys that could also be used as bait. I also don't think Wusnch will be up again with the Sox. He is off the 40 man roster now and I think their was definately a reason they did that. They know he will be gone, but thats not to say another team wouldn't be interested in him. Wedge
I don't think Kelly can be any worse at this point than Jackson.
EvilJester99
I like Stewart. I think he can pitch good. He looked ok last season until he got nailed in the chest.

Stewart's not on the 40 either. I'm not an expert on this but doesn't it really only come into play at draft time or when you've decided to bring somebody up? winninguglyin83
It would also come into play if the 40-man is full. You couldn't add one of these guys unless you took another guy off the 40-man. That's unlikely. There has to be some serious bad blood between Wunsch and the team for him to be totally buried like this. Otherwise, it makes no sense. I think the Sox have an opening on the roster, which was created when Kelly Wunsch was waived. At the same time, I also think their was another two openings when Jon Rauch and Gary Majewski were dealt, plus of course Jeremy Reed. So the Sox may actually have a decent number of openings on the roster. It really only comes into effect that after a certain amount of time in the minors, if your not on the 40 man roster, you are available for the Rule V draft or something along those lines. And then of course, your not eligible to be play at the major league level till placed on the 40 man roster.

DBAHO
If Stewart is not on the 40 man then he's exposed for the rule 5 draft. I believe the White Sox hierachy were very suprised no-one took him in last season's Rule 5 Draft.
CWSGuy406
Would it be fair to call Josh Stewart a poor man's Mark Buehrle? I know Stewart was up with the big club a year or two ago, and had the liner off his chest, but I don't quite remember him.
Chisoxfn
No, he's been compared to that, but his command is nowhere near that, nor is his stuff as good as Buehrle. Mark may not have amazing stuff, but he has excellent command of all his pitches and has a great idea how to pitch. Stewart is nowhere near at that level, although he has some decent pitches. His command just isn't all that good, at least not as good as it needs to be for a finesse pitcher.
Confederate_48
This may be a stupid question but why are we keeping Jackson in the pen when we have Wunsch ? Is there something i dont know about wrong with him or what cuz i dont see how it can be worse then having Jackson pitch.
JoshPR
I believe the White Sox hierachy were very suprised no-one took him in last season's Rule 5 Draft. Duh!!! No one took him cause he was injured and it didn't look good. He could have been Done
southsider2k5
I take it Stewart is finally healthy? If so I have no doubt that Josh can be a back of the rotation guy at the major league level.
