BobDylan
Don't know who caught the end of the post game show but Wills had found out a 15 year old boy him and Aaron had been following with cancer passed away. He talked about it at the end of the game and how him and Aaron visited the kid for a few mins, gave him some signed memorabilia, but the kid didn't make it. And Wills broke down into tears. The Sox are losers of five straight, and yes it sucks, but I gotta tell you, after Wills finished talking, it just didn't seem to matter anymore. Enjoy life people, White Sox baseball is the least of our matters.

Yoda
Enjoy life people, White Sox baseball is the least of our matters. True, but a lot of people (like me) are obsessed with the White Sox. Hope that kid is in a better place.
EvilJester99
We as people tend to take our lives for granted and never think about things like this and yet we bicker about something that really means nothing.... like a game.

The Beast
I believe there is a hero in all of us. Gives us strength, gives us hope...but sometimes we must give up our dreams. I want to say that sometimes god works in mysterious ways. Maybe this was his plan for this fine young gentleman. I always will remember that White Sox baseball is a game, no more than that. It is not life, and this has reminded me of why it is not life.

A few Sox losses, another year without a world series, means nothing compared to real life.
soxman352000
I thank God every chance I get because he spared me of a fate that so many others have when they have cancer. I spent a year and half in the hospital and I met some people who didn't make it. God bless that young man he battled and he sadly things didn't turn out so well. I'm sure he was a fine boy and one hell of a White Sox fan. God Speed buddy my prayers are with the family
FlaSoxxJim
It's something when you're all caught up in so many trivial issues and then the things that really matter hit you in the face. I had an eerily similar experience today at a seminar where a college student was delivering a summer intern presentation on a project screening sponges for anti-cancer activity. I was wondering what got her interested in the topic and then at the end of the presentation she pointed out her twiin sister in the audience, with an oxygen bottle, headscarf, and succumbing to advanced cancer... Be excellent to each other.

And as Jeus wept for the death of a friend and blessed thouse who mourn, so we too can cry for this young man and his family and friends. (and we share something in common.... 13 years now... been there, done that, gives a whole different perspective to life and sports, eh?) To be honest with you, that story made me tear up as well. May he rest in complete peace.
greg775
I should have said I also know he's in a better place. Hey send some Sox prayers for a woman I know. She's 30. Fainted in a grocery story. Found brain tumor. She hasn't woken up yet. She is one of those perfect people we all know. Everybody's praying. Life can suck but I believe in God. YASNY
In the overall scheme of things, White Sox baseball doesn't matter. Along with a whole lot of other things like the person that pissed you off at work today, or the fact that you got detention for talking in class, or whatever. Losing a 15 year old friend or acquaintance will choke you up, as it did Wills. Losing a 15 year old son will rip your heart out and stomp on it .... over and over and over. White Sox baseball is one of the things I use as an escape from the pain that is always, at least, just below the surface. It helps. When that pain has to come to the surface and be dealt with, that's the only thing that really matters at that time. God bless that young man and his family. beck72
Baseball is not the be-all, end-all of life. It's just another thing to get enjoyment out of. Far too many other things are out there of much greater importance. The more emphasis we put on loving our families, helping others, the better off we'll be. It reminds me of a conversation I had with Bishop Thomas Gumbleton. Found out he was a big Tigers fan. I had never met the man before. But I got a kick out of thinking, of all the work he's done aiding others, of all the people he has helped in his life, he gets enjoyment from baseball. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Yet he had his priorities in order. Thanks for putting our minds back on the real priorities in life, Bob! Here's hoping and praying for good health to all in need of it.
