Yoda
I turned the radio on and I hear this jackass saying that Wrigley Field should be rebuild. Saying that you should tear Wrigley down and that the Cubs 2005 schedule should be played in our stadium! How about that? Every single Cub home game should be played in the south side of Chicago. I sure as hell don’t want some drunken ass morons in my beautiful stadium. Later some Cubbie fans were discussing this topic and they said they don’t have any problem if they do play in the Cell. This s*** is ridiculous. I agree... blowup Wrigley Field, but don’t come over here. Go to Nevada. That state needs a baseball team.

southsider2k5
Actually the more I think about it... If the Sox could make some kind of a cut, by the Cubs playing at the Cell I am all for it. Expoit them, use them, and get some players for it.

IF the Cubs played there for any significant amount of time the windfall to the Sox directly would be just about 2% of the net revenues. The ISA would make out like a bandit though. Remember folks.. the Sox are just renters. They don't control much there.

I do understand that the Illinois Sports Authority runs things, but you do have certian rights as a renter, and I would imagine if they tried to bring in someone to share the park, the Sox would be owed something. And it sounds like right now that is 2%, but I wonder if they threw a fit, if they could increase that number?
mreye
I think if they rebuilt Wrigley they should keep the outfield walls and just rebuild the concourse. I think they could make that look pretty sharp! PS I don't mind if they come to the Southside. Like Steff said, we don't own it. It's pretty much up to the ISA. And it sounds like right now that is 2%, but I wonder if they threw a fit, if they could increase that number? There has been a "plan" should this ever happen since the start of the ISA's relationship with this park. From what I can tell the Sox would get % of revenue from any "shared" revenues.. the kicker.. "shared" is not defined. Like parking.. shouldn't the Sox continue to get their cut - which by the way is approx $6 per car -or would the Cubs get that since it's their game/fans.. or would the ISA get it all since they are the ones with the contract with the parking workers union..?? Concession revenue... supposedly the workers scheduled to work Cubs games would work them at the Cell.. and the Cubs would get that revenue as they normally would at their park (which I agree with). Ditto on the beer sales. But what about concessions...? If a Sox shirt sells during a Cubs game.. who get's that..? The Cubs don't sell Sox stuff at their park. And yea.. that's getting pretty specific, but IMO, that's something that is very questionable.. and where the ISA would take full advantage. ISA: Jerry.. you continue to get what you get when your team plays. When the Cubs play, they'll get their cut.. and we'll take care of the excess.... Hell.. it's perfect for them. I can't imagine they would give up any more than they have to since they likely hold some cards to make the Sox lives very uncomfortable if they push things. And to be honest... I don't think the Sox should ask for more. If they get anything it's more than they had before. JMO..

Reinsdorf was talking to Mike North the other day, and he said that he expects the Cubs will be able to play in Wrigley, that Wrigley is safe, etc., but he also said that during the baseball season the Sox have veto power over other uses of the park. So the Sox would have a little leverage.

So the Sox would have a little leverage. I meant in regards to getting more financial gain. Of course if they have a good argument why the Cubs shouldn't play there (scheduling, etc..) I think the ISA would side with them. They are their main tennant.

Texsox
When Wrigley is rebuilt, the Cubs should play their games at the Cell. The stadium was taxpayer supported, the other team is a Chicago team. Sending them to Puerto Rico, or Milwaukee, or wherever makes Sox fans look small and petty. We are one city and those Cub fans are also the same people who support the Hawks, Bulls, Bears . . . How about this double header. Cubs-Mets followed by the Sox-Yankees.

I could see the Sox negotiating with US Cellular for more money since their name and promotion will be greater.

BridgeportHeather
How about this double header. Cubs-Mets followed by the Sox-Yankees. That would never happen, as both teams in a two-team city are rarely at home at the same time or on the road at the same time. What I do have to say about this is that the Cubs can just go somewhere else if the Crumbling Confines gives up the ghost. I don't want to have fans from the Evil Empire coming over to our house!
