This is just a question. It might have already been answered but I didnt read all the post. Would we get anything if the Cubs played here? I mean they sell out every game and if we got a small cut it could really help. Also I dont think there would be many schedueling problems if they set it up early enough.

That would never happen, as both teams in a two-team city are rarely at home at the same time or on the road at the same time.

What I do have to say about this is that the Cubs can just go somewhere else if the Crumbling Confines gives up the ghost.  I don't want to have fans from the Evil Empire coming over to our house!

We've had a few Cub daytime, Sox night time games. Obviously if the Cubs played dates at the Cell, it would be a scheduling nightmare. The Cubs would probably have to open up at home, very cold, good for them.

Beats the Hawks and Bulls getting bumped for the Circus and Disney on Ice.

This could really help the Sox in their competition for fans in Chicago. Every business wants people to at least come through the door. Imagine millions of Cub fans paying to visit the Cell. If even a small percentage decide to attend some Sox games we win.

You've been away from Chicago too long.

It would be more of a scheduling nightmare for the Cubs, I'd think, since it is OUR stadium. They'd have to work the Cubs' schedule around our's...It would only be fair.

Since when does anyone treat the Sox "fair" when it comes to Cubs?

I would think that MLB would put some pressure on the Sox to be flexible. Remember, it is MLB that puts together the schedules. I do not think we could have a situation that the Sox can tell MLB who and when to schedule.

In the end, I'm thinking the Sox would not have a lot of say since they do not own their own stadium and they are a member of MLB.

Looking over the info I got earlier this year and the "deal" between the ISA and the Cubs.. IF the Cubs played there for any significant amount of time the windfall to the Sox directly would be just about 2% of the net revenues. The ISA would make out like a bandit though.

Remember folks.. the Sox are just renters. They don't control much there.

Maybe though we can tear the roof off and take the scoreboard and fan deck away!!!!!!!!!!!! JR owns the board and US cellular donated cash for the other stuff.

I think it would be a tough time scheduling for the Cubs to play at U.S. Cellular. I believe that either the Mets played at Yankee Stadium or visa versa for a while and it was brutal. Much as I would like to see Wrigley destroyed, I don't want those punks in our park. Besides, how many of you really think the average Cubs fan would be smart/sober enough to realize which team is on the field? :huh

Another thing that I doubt Mariotti would mention(research? what's that?) is that Wrigley has landmark status, so they couldn't destroy it and any additions would be a major pain in the ass because they would have to keep the general appearance of the park the same. The Bears got away with it by basically landing a spaceship in the middle of Soldier Field, but I doubt the Cubs would be able to do that. Plus that area would be a nightmare during construction, it's already gridlock just for Cub games.

I don't know where they would end up playing, all of the places with a big enough park have teams that hate them there. The Cardinals and Sox are #'s 1 and 2 on their list, and the Brewers play in their division, so I doubt they would help out. My vote is they would have enough pull to bully one of the minor league teams into allowing them to basically take over their park.

I say let them play there. I won't have to deal with the fans stinking up our park, since I won't be there for those games, and if it gets trashed there, we will know who is the true loser fans out there.

Plus, I say let 'em in as long as our vendors are the ones to benefit. Not to cut away from the Cubs vendors, but the guy who I always buy the Best dogs from rocks, and I say give him more business!!!
