kapkomet
Minnesota, without a doubt. It's Texas's football equivalent and Indiana's basketball equivalent.
Heads22
Heh....for being so close to Minny., we could give less than a s*** about hockey in Iowa.
kapkomet
That's because you only have corn fields, and they have 10,000 lakes that freeze over when it's colder then a witches tit in the middle of winter. What else are they supposed to do, eh?

MinnesotaSoxFan
Minnesota guys! I am up here and everyone is saying "When is it going to freeze?" I hate hockey and 2/3 of the local channels show the Minnesota Wild games. Winter is when I avoid local channels.
Texsox
Texas has 12, count them 12, professional hockey teams. Ranking them ahead of every state and canadian province. The attendance figure ranked fourth in the CHL, beating several large markets including Indianapolis, Fort Worth and Memphis, and fourth amongst the 12 professional hockey teams in Texas (Texas has more professional hockey teams than any other state or Canadian province), finishing behind Dallas, Laredo and Houston. Off the top of my head, there are pro teams in the following Texas cities: Dallas Rio Grande Valley (McAllen) Laredo Houston Corpus Cristi San Antonio Austin San Angelo Amarillo Fort Worth Lubbock Midland-Odessa

IlliniKrush
Didn't the North Stars move from Minnesota? Where did they go? Minnesota teams, and Michigan teams for that matter, would rape the s*** out of Texas teams. Get the college records up.

IlliniKrush
I wonder if there is a single college team in Texas. That's what i'm saying... A state that big has to have some hockey teams, i'm not surprised they have a good amount of pro teams. It's like a friggin country. As far as it being a hockey state, far from. Texsox
Actually a few universities in Texas have teams and the University of Texas - Austin was ranked in the top 20 last season. Div. 3 Baylor, A&M, Tech, and a few others have teams. But you are correct, Texas is better in football and baseball.

Texsox
Hey Tex/Kapkomet, you ever read Friday Night Lights? You guys pay attention to HS football? The lead sports story on the local news is always HS football. The local sports radio talk show will be 90% HS sports. Fans know the names and tendencies of all the top HS players. McAllen High School's stadium seats 5,000 and it sells out. This picture is from a scrimmage, not even a game. One local radio station hires 26 stringers to cover all the Rio Grande Valley games. It is truly amazing.
