EvilJester99
He is not worth any of the deals that have been stated in a trade for him. Overpaying major for him me thinks.

GoArow33
Seriously, the Mets shouldn't be trading for Benson anyway. He'd be terrible in New York.
LosMediasBlancas
Benson is coming along at a good time, for him and the Pirates. Besides RJ who are the stud starters available?. So if you need a starter, you have to over pay and both sides know it.
Wedge
This kid seems to be Todd Ritchie all over again and yet the Pirates seem to have GMs wetting themselves over him. I disagree with that comparison. He's got a lot better potential than Ritchie, at least. It's also important to remember that he was a pretty highly-rated prospect who had to have major arm surgery. If you look at when the typical 18 month recover window ended, and the string of nice starts he has put together (since early June, I want to say), it makes me wonder if he is starting to come into his own. Is he a true Ace pitcher? Not right now. Is he better than Garland? I definitely think so. What was everybody's opinion of Josh Beckett before last season? Aside from his second half run last year, he's had a pretty up-and-down injury-laced career, just like Benson. Great, dominating stuff, but the it never showed up in the numbers. Benson's been pitching great for about two months straight now, and he definitely could put a contender over the top and perhaps carry a pseudo-contender deep into the play-offs like Beckett did. ZoomSlowik
That kind of thing doesn't happen very often. Starting pitchers in their late 20's don't often go from being medicore at best to being unhittable like Schmidt did. To think Benson is going to do that is a stretch, especially in an AL team acquires him. Getting Floyd would blow. Too many issues. He's injury prone, he was talking about retirement, and he's signed for another two years and $13 mil after this season. :puke If we do this we can basically admit Maggs is gone, and I don't believe that. With his injury he's fallen into our price range, and he's much better hitter than Floyd when he gets healthy. Floyd is a long term solution to a short term problem. I'd rather get Cattalanato at a lower price than Floyd any day.

However, the circumstances seem to suggest that Benson is one of those cases where it will happen (at least in the eyes of some GMs). They see a guy who has really great stuff who is finally starting to put it together these past few months sort of like Schmidt did all those years ago. Hell, he even came from the same system as Schmidt. I see a lot of good in Benson, and I think he'll be great for whatever contender picks him up. Also, I agree about Floyd, he just doesn't do it for me. No thanks.
LDF
bottom line is, we are giving up too much for floyd, with a package of other prospect, the met are getting bensen....... too much to pay and i hope kw doesn't do it................. again >>>>>>> over pay for nothing
