Al Lopez Ghost (old)
If this guy can turn it around fulltime in August... whoever would have thought Ben Davis, throw-in catcher, could possibly be the team's savior? Ma and Pa Davis?
Al Lopez Ghost (old)
So the general theme here is that Davis can't hit, but he sure is dreamy.

EvilJester99
Thing I kind of think of is everyone thought Micheal Barret couldn't hit either. He was hitting like .185 with the Spoes and now he is hitting a lot better now. Who knows Ben could start hitting now that he is in a new enviornment and all that. Plus if he is given some regular playing time he may hit as well. I guess we will see eh?
GoArow33
I love the country music he plays when he comes up to hit. Then he charges around those bases. He's so much fun to watch when he actually hits.

GoArow33
Davis is 27? Damn I thought he was like 31 or 32!

greg775
To the women on our board: Is Ben "dreamy" like the one poster said. If I looked like Ben, I would date Christina A. (Applegate or Aguilera, either).
Jordan4life_2007
He may have to hit .400 to do so Well let's see. He would have to hit 20 hits in 40 at bats to get to .300 that would be 30 hits in 100 AB's If he gets 15 hits in 39 he'll be hitting .250 10 in 30 ab's gets him the Mendoza line He's hittin .250 as a Southsider. I'll be more than happy with that.
BuehrleTheAce
From what Roons and Farm were saying, it sounds like he is really buying into the Greg Walker hitting philosophy. Swing for the fences and f*** the rest?
Rowand44
Swing for the fences and f*** the rest? That's not walkers philosiphy that's the hitters philosiphy. It's been the same throughout the Von Joshua, Gary Ward, and Grege Walker regime's, I think it's time to stop blaming the hitting coaches. Well if it isn't his philosophy, then he sure does stink at getting them to buy into whatever he's selling. Coaching is more than just having a method, successful implementation (read: buy-in) is just as important.
WilliamTell
Obviously a change of scenery was in need for him. If he's hitting .250 here and was under .100 there he must be happier to be in Chicago.

Our last 3 hitting coaches with this crop of players haven't been able to get through to them. Hitting coaches can only do so much, you can't change who these players are. It's not walks fault, it wasn't Joshua's fault, and it wasn't ward's fault, they just got blamed when the players were and are the people to blame. I agree with you 100%. No one is going to be able to turn around a hitters mentality. That has to be done by the hitter himself.
qwerty
I hate it if a team is going bad af it is hitting or pitching the hitting coach always seems like he is the first to go. You hardly ever see a pitching coach get fired during the season.
WilliamTell
Yeah you hardly ever see a pitching coach go for some reason. Didn't Nardi get canned in the middle of the season?

Damn you tell, had to move your question, I just posted my response in the other thread. :headshake Anyways, yes nardi was canned in the middle of the season but I think we all can agree that he was a moron. Wise Master Buehrle
I like the acquisition. Davis WAS a 1st rounder, if I recall correctly. He may not be a top prospect anymore and just because he is NOT a prospect anymore hurt his value and made him cheap. Even though he isn't a top prospect anymore, he still has tons of potential.
