WSoxShuf
I understand the sox are down right now, but his show is a whole Cub attack. Why is this f***er still on the air???
Hatchetman
well, he's losing his morning show. i don't know if they'll put him somewhere else.
soxman352000
Mike Murphy is your typical dumbass Cub fan who doesn't even accept the fact that there are two teams in town.
IlliniKrush
If you were a radio host, what the hell would you talk about right now? Garciaparra and the Cubs? Or the week from absolute hell Sox?
The Critic
If you were a radio host, what the hell would you talk about right now? Garciaparra and the Cubs? Or the week from absolute hell Sox? Probably both, to be honest. There are stories to be found in both scenarios. How did it happen to the Sox? What can be done to turn things around? The "talent-to-production" ratios of the Sox and Twins? If nothing else, some interesting talk can be had from the turnaround both teams have made relative to earlier in the year - the Cubs are pulling out of their funk a bit, and don't seem as tense and defensive as they had, while the Sox have tailspun and seem kind of lost and confused. Would a "veteran" manager have been able to pull them out before the 7th straight loss, seeing as how the last 3 losses were all by one run? See, nothing to talk about there.... IlliniKrush
Well, i'm just saying, the Cubs are the hot story. If the Sox don't get as much talk today, so be it. I realize there is stuff to talk about - but with the weekend the cubs had, you can't expect equal time right now.

greasywheels121
It really sucks that they are most likely gonna resign garciaparra. No offense towards you when I say this, but who cares? I'm more concerned about what the Twins do.
The Critic
It really sucks that they are most likely gonna resign garciaparra. Not really. His numbers have been in decline since 2001. He's no longer a great defensive SS. It's not likely that the Cubs will even offer what he turned down from Boston Since they didn't deal any big names to get him, there's not going to be much fan pressure to justify the deal. His name is getting stronger than his game. If they lock him in for 4 or 5 years, I think they'll regret signing him by the end of the contract. Unless the Cubs make a long postseason run, I still think he'll test the market.
quade36
OKay, today the talk should have been about Nomar. I do agree with that being the hot topic. However, at the risk of sounding like a jealous sox fan I have noticed in the past that murph loves talking about the cubs and almost every time there is sox talk, something about the cubs is mentioned as well. Fred is supposedly a sox fan, actually I think he is, and I feel he is usually right on the comments he makes on the sox and about baseball in general. However he seems to be Murph's b**** way too often and lets Murph control the show. I think the show should be Fred and Murph!!!!
WSoxShuf
Fred doesn't talk. He just says 5 mins about the white sox and then Murphy keeps blabbing on about the Cubs. He literally covers every part of the cubs team. I want to throw up when i hear him.
EvilJester99
Well just think it will only get better soon, with Mike North coming to the daytime slot. Sheesh.

I realize there is stuff to talk about - but with the weekend the cubs had, you can't expect equal time right now. I agree. First off I think Murphy is an excellent Baseball guy. I don't care if he talks about the Cubs after this trade. If the Sox got him they would be talking about that. Murphy knows the game, and he is a Cub fan. I will miss him in the mornings, but I learn more from him in one morning than from most other experts. He is hard on the Cubs as well. He hates the Trib, hates the Cub brass besides Hendry. He has been kicked out of Wrigley due to his comments on the Air. He calls Mac Pail, Mac Fail in regards to his kissing the Tribs ass. He is on the side of the fan. He is not agaisnt the Whitesox at all.
Jordan4life_2007
It really sucks that they are most likely gonna resign garciaparra. Where do you get that? You know the Red Sox offered him a 4 year 60 million dollar extension and he turned it down. You think the Cubs will offer him that? No way. And like somebody said. Nomar is still a good player. But he's more of a name now than anything. Not to mention the attitude problems and him being injury prone.
SoxFanForever
This isn't the same Nomar of the 2000 variety. I doubt they resign him. Hell, they may make a run at Renteria.

The reason garciaparra did not sign the contract in boston is because by that time there was already bad blood between them.

WHy don't the sox go after Renteria? He is exactly what we need. He can leadoff or hit second with Rowand leading off or hitting second. He is superb defensively which is what we need with all the ground ball pitchers we have. He has speed and some power. He is exactly what we should be going after in the offseason. He fits our team perfectly.

Hendry has already come out and said that he is not even negotiating with Garciaparra's people because it is not fair to the others on the team. Face it this was a very expensive rent a player for the Cubs. They gave up a s*** load of prospects for the guy.

Anyway they will resign him there have already been talks of them buying out alou's contract like i said so they would have more than enough money. southsideirish
2 prospects is suddenly alot. Anyway they will resign him there have already been talks of them buying out alou's contract like i said so they would have more than enough money. First of all he is said to want to play near LA. Now that can always change, but LA has more than enough moeny for him and they need another bat. I am sure they are going to go after him very hard. 2 prospects? NO! Try 3. Brendan Harris, Francisco Beltran, and Justin Jones. All 3 are supposed to be pretty damn good prospects. If we would have done a deal like this people would have said we gave up way too much. Beltran is a potential closer down the line, Justin Jones is a left handed power pitcher, and Brendan Harris is an up and coming 3B. They gave up a ton for a rent a player. I didn't even know Alou was still under contract for next season. I thought this was his last season there.
Jordan4life_2007
Not that I give a damn. But if i'm Jim Hendry, The first thing I worry about is getting Clement signed. After probably Zambrano, he's been their best starter. Any kinda decent run support and he has atleast 13 wins.
