southsideirish
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet or if it even belongs in the pale hose chat. Please move it to where it belongs if I have indeed placed this news in the wrong spot. From Fanball.Com Twins: Mauer getting a third opinion. THE NEWS Catcher Joe Mauer will seek a third medical opinion on his surgically-repaired left knee this week. Mauer has been on the disabled list since July 19, his second stint on the DL this season. He initially injured his knee in the second game of the season, returning just before the All-Star break. OUR VIEW The Twins have talked about acquiring a catcher via trade if Mauer is not able to return. Season-ending surgery has been discussed as an option for the rookie, though no decision to that effect has been made. I don't know about you guys, but this is not something I want to see for my catcher of the present and future. A serious knee injury like this to a young catcher is not very good. winninguglyin83
I've heard one report that he is basically cooked as a catcher. There is serious talk that the Twins are going to have to turn him into a first baseman (unlikely with Morneau around) or third baseman (more likely because Koskie makes too much). Just what I've heard.

WilliamTell
I hope he recovers. I know there were some Twins fans screaming with joy when Maggs went for the 2nd time. I just don't want to stoop to their level. I think wishing for career injuries is very stupid. I'm not saying that anyone here is wishing for that though. GoArow33
How about I hope he's injured the rest of the year, is traded, and then has a hall of fame career for the St. Louis Cardinals?
Wise Master Buehrle
I smell J.D Drew all over this kid. (s*** load of talent, but injuries might get the best of him.. ) Seems that way. That's liek the first prospect the Twins have had that this has happened to.
WilliamTell
I don't want to call it luck for the Twins but it seems like they always have good fortune, not this time though.
