baggio202
keeping mags is absolute priority That it is, i dont think we would be able to afford it if we signed tejada.... plus if we have any chance of signing colon long term we cant go after tejada too..JR is probably sweating already that god forbid this team is successful and he has to keep it together he is probably looking at a 70 million dollar payroll

There's a big difference between MB(a pitcher) and Miggy T(a hitter). JR's given some nice, fat contracts to hitters....and given s*** to pitchers. How's that for a reason he would give money to Tejada and not to Buehrle?
doubleM23
Tejada's MLVr was .193 (not bad.. comparable to Konerko) last year, compared to the .056 in '00. .055 in '01, and the .094 he's projected to have this year according to Silver's PECOTA.... Not worth the money he'll be asking for.

Not worth the money he'll be asking for. Forgive me but i have no idea what that stat is.... some insight plz? They're stats from Baseball Prospectus... Kind of hard to explain without getting really long-winded... MLV (Marginal Lineup Value) is a way of measuring a player's productivity. It essentially states how a lineup of 8 average players and the player in question would compare to a lineup of 9 average players. MLVr translates MLV to a rate of production. To give you an idea of average MVLr's for certain players, here are some examples from 2002... Barry Bonds... .955 Sammy Sosa... .395 Magglio Ordonez... .360 Josh Paul... -.254 Essentially, a positive MLVr indicates a player who performed above league averages and a negative MLVr indicates a player below league averages. PECOTA is way harder to explain. It's a new system of statistically project players. I would encourage everyone to get Baseball Prospectus 2003.... Really is the must-have for die-hard baseball fans, IMO.
