Sweeney entered the draft as one of the top high school hitting prospects, but also as one of the better pitching prospects in the draft. Sweeney would slide to the 2nd round due to signing concerns, but the Sox scouts gauged his interest and knew he wanted to play professional baseball. Sweeney has played at Winston Salem all season and is hitting .279 with 5 HR and 51 RBI.
