Obstacle 1
just got back from MAC media day in detroit and I want some Illinois fans to confirm that the Illini will be an embarassment to 1-A football again this year as they were last year. When the Broncos come to Champaign on Sept. 18, i want to see a deflated UIUC team that will be saying to themselves "here we go again" when WMU rolls them. Do you know if the talks of having the MAC championship game at Ford Field is true?
IlliniKrush
Keep running your mouth, obstacle. I don't care what happened last year, you won't win this year buddy. Pull this thread up after the game, it will be hilarious. MAC football...watch out

MAC football...watch out Number of Big 11 teams that finished higher than No. 10-ranked Miami University in the final AP poll: 1: Michigan. you were exactly the person i was hoping to rub the wrong way. it was tongue in cheek, dude, we'll be lucky to break .500 this year. regarding "mac football, watch out?" ask the following schools if they'll take the MAC lightly ever again. alabama maryland NO. 8-ranked Pitt Purdue Kansas State any other BCS school that has lost to a MAC school in the past five years. but i am looking forward to partying in champaign that night, hopefully after a bronco victory. I bet vegas will set the line at UIUC -4. BTW, NIU would humiliate UIUC.

Exactly, heard Joe Novak saying today how the Maryland coach doesnt talk to him because of last season. They have sign in their locker room. Remember NIU. IlliniKrush
Naw, man, i laughed at your comments, i found them funny I know of all those MAC upsets. However, big ten football is by far superior to MAC football. To think otherwise would be foolish. We should win that western mich game though, all kidding aside. If we don't we have some problems early on. By the way, i would have taken ohio st to beat miami of ohio last year, even though michigan was the only team in front of em in the polls. Possibly Purdue

Possibly Purdue Big Ten is by far better than the MAC overall, but if you got rid off all the teams excpet Toledo, NIU, BGSU, Miami, Marshall, Western Mich. and added 2 other mediocre teams, the MAC wouldnt be laughed at. Obstacle 1
How was it? Do you know if the talks of having the MAC championship game at Ford Field is true? media day was awesome. open bar at a hospitality reception at the ren cen on monday night, got to pound heinikens for free and shoot the s*** with rick chryst, who is a GODSEND to this conference. the best thing about media day is that it's the only time of the year when every team is upbeat and optimistic about the season. regarding the mac championship at ford field, i have this to say. i spoke with a couple ADs from the league and they said that there is a VERY GOOD (i.e. nothing is guaranteed) chance the MAC could become a BCS league in 06 when they expand the BCS bowls. but they all said one of the biggest things holding the MAC back is not playing the championship game at a neutral site, and with how the MAC has great relations with the motor city bowl and how the the city of detroit has allowed college football to flourish in it's outstanding facility (EMU plays CMU there this year), i would bet that ford field will host the mac championship in the very near future. also, joe novak is one of the brightest coaches in college football. NIU is VERY lucky to have him. NIU also got picked to finish second in the MAC West to Toledo, who ran away with over 80% of the first place votes. chimpy2121
NIU has a very good shot at winning the MAC, they just gotta beat Toledo (i think Novak is 0-7 against them) and win the other games they are sposed to. It should be an excellent season. I also heard rumors of a third bowl involving the MAC but its not as likely as the MAC championship rumor. CubsSuck1
I think if NIU keeps doing well, and Illinios continues to struggle, NIU will soon become Illinois' team. UIUC has more tradition, But Northern Illinois and the MAC are on the rise.

The Bones
Everyone already knows that Illinois State is Illinois' Team. But I expect/hope Illinois will be better this year, they can't be any worse. And any of you guys at Illinois' heard anything about Sinclair or Matha, whether they will serve any kind of a suspension or anything? It could have been worse last year if we didn't beat ISU for our only victory of the season.

If i had to guess, i'd say they'd both be suspended for the first game. Turner has a history of going easy on starters as far as disciplinary stuff goes.
