JDsDirtySox
Surely they should have seen this coming. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/diamondbac...826drew-On.html
DBAHO
He won't get signed, not with Boras as his agent.
Palehosefan
This could turn out one of two ways. It could turn out ok and be drafted again high next year like his bro. Or it could turn Matt Harrington like, yuck.

qwerty
I dislike boras very much, but for the most part he does his job so you have to give that to him.
Kogs35
i could be wrong but i remember bruce levine talking about the owners getting borasss out of baseball. hes the reason contracts went nutz. no team will negotiate with him, and any team that drafts a player of his is taking a hudge risk. i think its time that scott borasss learns that he cant control baseball. Gene Honda Civic
This has everything to do with the new ownership group down in AZ... They've installed Jeffrey Moorad as president(?). The way I heard it, The D'Backs still need league approval, or approval from league owners, before Moorad is official. In the mean time they don't want to do anything to upset the apple cart. i.e. paying a draft pick too much money, thus setting a bad precedent. Paying too much would make other owners mad. They are essentially forgoing signing Drew in order to install Moorad as Prez.

They are essentially forgoing signing Drew in order to install Moorad as Prez. The way I understand it, they ran Colangelo out of Dodge City BECAUSE he drafted Drew against their wishes. So the fact that they are not going to sign him was totally predictable based on that. I think this is a case where the D'Backs people with the greenbacks decided to cut their losses on the Drew selection. They'll get a comp pic between rounds one and two next year. Pastime
People in Phoenix will be hanging on and clinging to that World Series Title of 2001 much like people in Chicago hang on and cling to that Super Bowl Championship of the Bears in 1986. When you know that your franchise and favorite team will suck for years to come, you have no choice. The D-backs won't sniff the playoffs for probably another decade. LDF
good, another team again gets burn by boras and his demands. i love it.
LDF
This could turn out one of two ways. It could turn out ok and be drafted again high next year like his bro. Or it could turn Matt Harrington like, yuck. matt harrington screwed himself, with his agent, who was not boras at the time, told him to stay out. it wasn't until last yr that boras got on as his agent, however i think and iirc, the assessment of harrington skill did not prgross and he lost many yr of development. Palehosefan
Yep I wasn't using Harrington just because of Boras. I was using him as a player that didn't sign a couple of times and it did him absolutely no good. He has been in the independent leagues a few years and is just about the forgotten man now.
