Suriya Phosang, 19, a drug addict, was being questioned about the killing of his younger brother in a rice field after the body was found slashed with a knife and missing its major organs, said police in the northeastern province of Chaiyaphum. "He still cannot properly testify about villagers' suspicions that he ate his brother's liver and heart and those two organs were missing from the victim's body," said police Major Chalerm Ruecha, heading the investigation. "There were no eyewitnesses." Suriya, who had a history of mental illness and drug addiction, was due to have further psychiatric tests.
