DBAHO
The Giants have claimed both Rockies outfielder Jeromy Burnitz and lefthander Shawn Estes on waivers, according to major-league sources, but appear more likely to acquire Burnitz before Tuesday's deadline for setting post-season rosters. Burnitz would represent a significant upgrade, considering that the Giants' right fielders rank 11th in the N.L. in on-base/slugging percentage (OPS). However, Burnitz's 32-homer, 90-RBI season is partly a creation of hitter-friendly Coors Field; his home OPS is 1.083 and his road OPS is .800. SBC Park, the Giants' home, is one of the most pitcher-friendly stadiums in the majors, though Burnitz is 11-for-22 there this season with three doubles and a home run. Estes, a Giant from 1995 to 2001, would receive the opposite benefit from a move to SBC. Estes' 13-5 record isn't as revealing as his 5.79 ERA, but he would be an improvement over lefty Wayne Franklin, who has a 10.80 in two starts for the Giants. Estes also is 5-0 against the N.L. West this season, including 3-0 against the Dodgers.

santo=dorf
Is he a FA after this season? I could've sworn he has an option for next year of only 3 million, this is why I heard Colorado wanted to keep him.

santo=dorf
According to Rotoworld, it is a mutual option for next year. Burnitz is trying to get a 2 year 6.5 per year deal from the Rockies.
Gene Honda Civic
Jebus Christmaspunchers, you ladies dig the longball. Burnitz is .249/.331/.469 away from Coors. which is exactly in line with his production last season, when he didn't play in Coors. (.239/.299/.487)

(.239/.299/.487) Exactly, we already have about 5 or 6 Burnitz-esque hitters in our line up. We need guys who can get on base, move over runners, bunt, run bases, etc.

greasywheels121
Definite upgrade over Everett, and/or could DH! As it's been said a couple times, that's not doing much for us. Would Burnitz have taken us to the World Series?
southsider2k5
As it's been said a couple times, that's not doing much for us. Would Burnitz have taken us to the World Series? No, which would have made him a complete waste of money this year. Save it for 2005.

witesoxfan
Definite upgrade over Everett, and/or could DH! So instead of winning 77 games, we win 80 instead? Sweet...or not
