Barons rotation next season?

I'd like to get some opinions on who you guys think will be in the Barons' rotation next year (especially you Rex :P). I found this little snippet before,

Kris Honel and Ryan Wing. The twosome was expected to be the aces of the 2004 Birmingham staff. Wing sat out the year and Honel only made a couple of cameos due to injuries. But the duo could combine with McCarthy and rehabbing Corwin Malone to give the Barons one of the most impressive rotations in minor-league baseball next summer.

Now McCarthy could start off the season with the Knights, and Honel, Wing and Malone might not even be there. Guys like Villacis, Bull etc. probably have a good chance as well.

You gotta figure Tracey will be there....... Not sure about the others. Wing is likely to be there assuming his rehab goes according to plan. Honel is a total question mark. Malone too, although he has been working hard in rehab and staying in shape.

As always, a lot depends on what AAA free agents they sign. If they sign a couple of pitchers, then guys like Villacis could get pushed back to AA. You would have to think that Ulacia, Phillips and Villacis would move up to AAA, whether they are in the rotation or not. Villacis may even be a free agent. Pacheco is another question mark. He could land in AA or AAA.

My guess is McCarthy goes to AAA, but that may depend on how he throws in the AFL and ST. Meaux will either be in AAA as a reliever or AA. He won't start in AAA.

Speaking of rotations, will Gio Gonzalez start the year at Kanny or Winston Salem, or is that undetermined?  I assume that if he has a good enough year next year (bleh), he'll take the route of B-Mac - Kanny to W-S to Birmy.

he'll probably start in Kanny and finish in W-S. He's really young still remember

Yeah, but will have 100% of his armspeed and range of motion back? Will he experience bouts with "soreness" every other start?

There is being "back" and then there's being BACK!!!

It was just Tommy John surgery....... whether he will ever make it back to the level that gained him top prospect status he once had is questionable...... but he is working hard in rehab right now, that much I know.

Sometimes TJ surgery makes the arm better than it was before the injury ever happened. Maybe we'll get lucky here.

What am I saying? This is a Sox farmhand, after all. :headshake
