ManSooLee
He killed a 504 foot homer today furthest one in the history of the park, and I was one of the few people there!!!!

greg775
2 points: 1.) what was it like with a crowd of 5,000? Was it weird? That has to be the smallest crowd since 1970s Old Comiskey. 2.) If Joe can hit a ball that far ... keep him! This proves he has potential to be a phenom. Work with him. 500 feet???? Way to go, Joe. That total didn't include season ticketholders who were given comps. I was sitting behind homeplate, right next to Mrs. Shingo and his 2 little ones. Borchard's ball was smoked. Yoda
I didn’t view the game so hopefully they’ll show it on Fox News. BTW, what was the score? I know the Sox won, but by how much?

Nope we've been over that one before here.... April of 97 -- Less than 1000 fans. (I don't remember that one -- I think it might have been snowing) http://retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B04090CHA1997.htm -- 746 fans

Let's let him play RF for the rest of the year. He's been hitting/seeing the ball better the last couple weeks, a lot of line drive outs. Let's keep him out in right for the rest of the year. marsh
I was only half kidding. To hit a ball that far is pretty exciting. they should mark where the ball hit on the concourse and build a statue of joe so that years from now sox fans can ohh and ahhh at the site of the legendary joe borchard home run. 504 feet, how much does that work out per foot for 5.3 mil? 3E8
id like to hear hawk's call on that bomb Here is the Phillidelphia announcers' call: (Borchard steps into the box) "Borchard hitting at just .160, first round draft pick in the 2000 draft, 12th player selected in that draft out of Stanford University a switch-hitter and... (Borchard hits home run) "...goodbye. Way, way outta of here. Wow." "Wha....wow." "Under the scoreboard out on the catwalk under the scoreboard, for a looonngg 2-run home run Borchard his third of the year." "Maybe that's why they drafted him first. That kinda power, that cleared all the seats!" "Boy was that ball crushed." (Later on) "Estimated distance on the Borchard home run: 504 feet." "Wow." "Wow." "That's the way you used to hit 'em, right L.A.?" "Yeah...with a driver."
