SoIL
Kenny definitely knows talent. If Ozzie knows baseball as much as has been reported, these two should be able to build a solid winner.

santo=dorf
Wasn't Hummell in the Jimenez trade? No we got Scott Dunn for Jimenez. Then we sent Dunn to the Angels.
santo=dorf
Heh!! That Todd Richie had some talent :rolly http://www.addictsports.com/baseball/archi...hp/t-13330.html Williams said he appreciated Schueler's assistance, particularly when Williams was farm director. "Absolutely, Schu helped me,'' Williams said. "We worked closely together then while showing me a great amount of what goes into scouting, and then again in the offseason as general manager. He was right in the middle of preparation for the '02 season.'' Schueler outlined his concerns to Reinsdorf after deciding to move up his departure date before the end of October. He stressed the importance of background checks on players under consideration to be acquired who either have character flaws or have seen better days. He excluded pitcher Todd Ritchie, who was acquired by Williams last winter from the Pirates in the controversial deal that sent Kip Wells, Josh Fogg and Sean Lowe to Pittsburgh."I was behind that trade,'' Schueler said, "although I didn't feel it was necessary for us to give them the kid [Fogg]. We felt we could straighten out Todd's mechanics, but it didn't happen. I still think he can be a good pitcher.''
SoIL
Well, there's no doubt the Ritche trade was a mistake. I guess I should've added that it takes more than talent. That's why I'm hoping Ozzie knows baseball players and the two can work well together.
witesoxfan
Wasn't Hummell in the Jimenez trade? Scott Sullivan was traded from Cincinatti to Chicago for Tim Hummel. 100% sure of that.

qwerty
Hummel is a third baseman right? I read where he has 1 HR and 7 RBI this season If he can ever hit he may be valuable because he has played 1B: 13, 2B: 1, 3B: 32, SS: 1.
winninguglyin83
hummel is nothing more than a utility player. Not enough power to be a regular third baseman too slow to play shortstop full-time Only ordinary at second base. the only mistake the Sox made on Hummel was wasting a Number Two draft pick on him. I agree, when i said valuable i meant valuable off the bench.
winninguglyin83
cool I don't understand why the Red Sox would want him. If you can't play for the Reds -- with an infield of Brandon Larson, an injured Barry Larkin and D'Angelo -- then you can't play

Now look at him, he is hitting .307.
winninguglyin83
Red Sox web site sez he won't be added to the roster until after the season, so he won't be in Fenway this season. Maybe they expect to lose Bellhorn, Pokey Reese or Mueller to free agency

He_Gawn
We need to pick up Mueller, he's clutch and good.
SoxAce
We need to pick up Mueller, he's clutch and good. And a damn good switch hitter. (Hey he's a lefty regardless if he bats right handed too.)
DBAHO
We need to pick up Mueller, he's clutch and good. Not a very good fielder at 3rd though, I'd still prefer Corey Koskie, but I would be satisfied with Mueller all the same.
southsider2k5
Stupid question, but is Ichiro a free agent after this season? Could having Shingo here present a chance to lure him here if he is a FA? There is no bigger grinder in all of MLB than Itchy.
Palehosefan
ss2k4 I believe Ichiro just signed a 3 year extension in Seattle. Also on Corey Koskie, his fielding numbers this year are terrible. His average isn't too hot either, I would rather give Crede another chance than Koskie.
