WilliamTell
I know I would. For starters, he has more baseball instincts then Walker, and the fact that he actually has range helps him too. Very true, even though Valentin isn't a great fielder and makes his fair share of errors, he does have very good range.

winninguglyin83
Todd Walker couldn't play SS at LSU. chronic complainer. That's why the Cubs are either his fourth or fifth team already. Puh-leese fuhgetaboutit
YASNY
Walker knew he was going to be a bench player, yes. He also has recently said that he didn't know how difficult it was to be a bench player and he'd to find find a place to play regularly next year. That's an honest assessment. Hardly chronic complaining. However, Walker is very weak defensively at 2nd, which is his primary position. There is no way in hell you want to try him at SS. People would be begging for the return of Jose Valentin for defensive purposes if we did that.
KevHead0881
This doesn't have a whole lot to do with Todd Walker, but I heard him on WGN 720 yesterday saying that he doesn't like the chances of Nomar staying with the Cubs. I guess my question is why not throw a whole lot of money at him? We need a proven shortstop, we'll have some money lying around with the departure of Maggs and I believe he's worth the money. Now, I understand that he is said to really want to play on the west coast (supposedly the Dodgers and Angels will make a run for him), but why should that stop us from making an attempt? " By KevHead0881 eh, the idea of Nomar is great, just ask the Cubs fans after the trade, but throwing money at him right now is questionable in my opinion since there's no real gauge on how healthy he is, and how lingering these injuries are. Watching him play (especially defense) with the Cubs is almost sad. This guy use to be electric, and that's just not there anymore. He still is a solid player, but nowhere near the old Nomar. So he scares me when talking long term and big money Also, I know there's probably a million other factors people can throw out there, but it opens my eyes that the Red Sox are 29-8 since trading him (I think that's the record)

The injuries are definitely a concern there, and you are right, he's far from the old Nomar which I would put right up there with ARod as far as great shortstops. I guess my feeling is that he's still light years better than our current SS situation. Back to Walker, it's kind of wierd that a guy would come out like that about another players contract situation. I guess it fits to his reputation of being an ass. LosMediasBlancas
I didn't hear exactly what Walker said, but it's no secret that Nomar's staying is 50-50 at best. If the Scrubs don't go far in the playoffs, then he gawn.
