Florida State @ Miami Game Thread

Anyone can be a fan of a team like that. I could be a Miami/OU/USC/LSU/etc fan tomorrow. I can deal with those expectations. The rest of us just don't have such teams like that (Illinois, NW, etc). It has nothing to do with expectations. It has to do with being a fan of a team for a good reason. I see your point with Dunn, but don't give me this expectation crap. There are way way way too many people who jump on good teams because it's easier to root for a powerhouse than an above average to decent to bad team. Period. And those people are losers.

Just don't talk s*** to Illinois or NW fans because "your team is better", because it's complete crap. Maybe i'll jump to the next powerhouse, or Miami...

I can't stand those people.

In basically every sport i like s***ty teams. I have always liked the under dogs such as the bengals, warriors, padres. Like you said it is easy to pick a power house team but how is that fun.

You go ahead and do that. I don't care. I'm not insecure enough to go running around questioning people's loyalties on sports teams. You do whatever the hell you want, but don't tell me I only root for them because it's easier, that's a bunch of garbage.

Despite what you guys think of each other... I thought that was an incredible game. The defenses on the field almost could be transported directly to the NFL and be OK. But Chris Rix needs to be taken out back and shot, there is no doubt he was the difference in the game. He couldn't manage to lead his team to one point without the help of this defense.

It was a hell of a game. I'm not sure if we'll see one better out of NCAA or NFL this season.

90 total yards mid-way through the fourth is pathetic, it doesn't matter how good the defense is. Rix was awful last night, but still should have won. That blocked field goal was a heart breaker.

Eh, yes and no. I became a fan of FSU when I was younger. To simply put it, I jumped on the bandwagon at a young age and never got off. I don't have a legit reason like you speak of, but I am a fan nonetheless.

Well it's more insecure to b**** about other people's football teams because they aren't as good as FSU, then. That's complete and utter bulls***. You wanna talk about insecure - you have to root for powerhouses.

Hold on a sec. He's been an FSU fan for almost 10 years now. You're an Illini fan. Say Illinois was a powerhouse in football. You would be the bandwagon then now wouldnt you?

No, because he goes to U of I or something.

The whole argument is stupid if you ask me. He's a legit FSU fan, what's the beef?

Cuz how the hell would i be fairweather if the illini were good and i went to the school

Going to a school and being a fan of the athletic teams are two totally separate things. Just like living in a city and and liking the sports teams are two different things. I don't give a s*** about UMASS football even though they are pretty solid (for I-AA). If I all of a sudden turned around and started being #1 fan after they won the national title I would be a front-runner. And I'd be the first to admit it. This s*** we are arguing about is stupid but I take it seriously. If I was a fairweather fan I would have switched allegiances to the Red Sox by now. If I was a fairweather fan, I'd eliminate all the questions about, YOU'RE FROM MASSACHUSETTS AND YOU DON'T LIKE THE RED SOX?? and just switch over. But I f***ing don't. I take all the s*** about how I should like the SAWWWWWWWX and explain that yes, I like the White Sox. Frank, Crede, Konerko, oh they got plenty of ammo, but I shoot right back at 'em.

Yeah, I'm a real sucker for the easy way out. I only celebrate the easiest teams and I change with the breeze. Go through the s*** I go through, following teams on the internet and highlight shows with nobody around you who cares whether they win or lose, and then tell me I have it easy.

No, see, going to school gives me a perfectly justifiable reason to like a team. Liking random teams all over the country...i don't know.

Yeah, spiff, look at my teams and tell me i haven't put up with a bunch of crap since i've been a fan. I put up with the same crap you do, i realize you support your teams. My only qualm was people who rip on s***tier teams because they decided to like a powerhouse. Never said you HAVE to like every team from your area. It gives you that option. If i'm somehow an OU fan tomorrow morning, i would hope people would wonder where the hell that came from.

Do you want a medal?

To be perfectly honest, I don't give a damn if you've been through the struggles of U of I football. You know why you've been through their struggles? Because they f***ing suck. Spiff isn't a fair weather fan because he hasn't been through struggles. It's not his fault they've dominated college football for years upon years. It's not his fault Bobby Bowden is the all-time winningest coach in NCAA history. It's not his fault.

...Enjoy another year of losing football.

First off, I didn't mean to question anything about you being an FSU fan. I said in a lot of cases rooting for a team like FSU is gutless. People are always bandwagon jumpers. I have respect for Illinois fans, that doesn't mean I have to like them! Honestly, my "hatrid" for Illinois is merely for bragging rights with friends. Nothing more. Schools like Notre Dame and Nebraska I just like to see lose because they cry so much about it. Florida St. has been a great program, I'm not going to deny that. Just saying that they, like any other powerhouse, have many fair weather fans.

Indeed, that comes with the territory of being a hell of a football program. I'm never threatened by people who call me a fair weather fan for being fans of the Tampa Bay Bucs and the 'Noles. It really doesn't matter. I've been fans of the two teams as long as I can remember, and when I'm called a fair weather fan that just means other people are pissed my team can beat the s*** out of theirs.

Go Bucs.

Go Noles.

Go Sox.

Go Bulls.

But the fact people say that they are better fans because they like crappy teams is a joke.
