It appears there will not be a season for this year. These guys are the biggest dumbasses ever in sports. They had a great chance to improve their standings in the world back in 94' when baseball went on strike and what did they do instead of taking advantage they go on strike too....f***ing morons. Hockey isn't much more than a rumor in most places and do they really think a majority of people will give a damn when its gone or when and if it ever comes back?? This pisses me off to no end when these greedy ass f***ers on both sides do this kind of s***.

You say the problem yourself. By and large, most people don't give a s***, yet the players are getting paid riduclous ass amounts of money, while hockey has a hell of a time pulling in revenue.

Salaries are gonna have to drop by 50% before hockey starts back up, imo. And ya, this bulls*** absolutely burries the sport in my book and i was just starting to like hockey.

ok call me stupid here but if the owners want a salary cap why not just stop giving these big contracts out. empose a "salary cap" with out actually having a salary cap? spend only what u want

I'm assuming it would be a case of collusion, much like baseball went through back in the late 80's.

Well, t minus 24 hours and counting.  A press conference has been set up at 2:30 EST to announce the results of the board of governors meeting to be held in Toronto tomorrow morning.  Gee.  I wonder what will be said...  :huh

It's getting crazy.  I talked to a player and an agent this morning, they are working to get signed up in Europe.

I also know a major corporate sponsor for the Dallas Stars, the Stars President was personally calling the "big accounts" today to give them a status update ...

Buckle in folks.  It's gonna be a long one.

An aside - it also seems like they are hoping for a mid-December settlement.

Take a league 80% of people do not care about and lockout they will gain nothing on either side.

MLB players association has thrown their support to the NHL players.

Wait....you mean to tell me that the players of the only other "Big Four" sport without a salary cap is siding AGAINST a salary cap????

f***ING STUNNING!

What a brave and noble stance the MLBPA has taken....not self-serving whatsoever....

Its sad that its true. Im a huge hockey fan, and having no season is going to be a big loss for me.

But, everyone knows how people could care less about the NHL,especailly Buttman and the rest of the NHL brass. The game, IMO will not recover if there off for more than 6 mounths. Im already done going to games, but thats because of Wirtz If there is a lockout in hockey, those few remaning fans in Detriot, Colorado, Minnesota,Philly, and NY wont come back.

Gary Buttman has now officially destroyed the NHL. Congratulations asshole, you took a thriving sport that had growing interest and attendance and drove it straight into the ground.

The level of play is not NHL level, granted, but since both teams are at that same approximate level, AND since that level is not EONS below the NHL level ( as would be junior hockey or whatever ) it makes for very enjoyable hockey.

The SlackHawks' level of play hasn't exactly been NHL level the past few seasons, either, one playoff fluke year aside....give me the more affordable, more enjoyable, more kid-friendly experience anytime. ( My little girl loved the Wolves game we took her to, she was bored out of her gourd at the SlackHawk game ).

I'm with you guys on that one. I went to a Wolves game last season and for 50 bucks I parked, got admission, ate and got a kickass Wolves cap and they WON! How can you go wrong like that? You go to a slackhawks game and the stuff I mentioned will probably cost you about 120 bucks per person and all to watch then get pwned at home by a powerhouse like the Columbus Blue Jackets.
