As part of the Loaiza-Contreras deal, the Yanks sent $3 mill over...$1 mill to cover next year, and $2 mill to cover 06.
CWSOX45
If I'm the White Sox I say "goodbye" to Carl Everett, I don't want Konerko or Lee traded. As for Borchard, he's shown us what he can do at the Big League level....he sucks. I'm ready to see Alex Escobar compete for a starting job next season in right field. CWSOX45 Carl Everett has a player option for 2005 IIRC. I don't think it is up to us.

Guest JimH
Everett could take the option, but the Sox could certainly trade him. I seriously doubt he'd bring a whole lot at this point though. It's all up to Everett. What he does with the option, what kind of shape he comes in, etc. IMO, he'll take the player option and he'll be a part of the team for 2005, to begin the season at least. This has been a bad year for him with injuries and he's never been in baseball shape this year, partially due to those injuries. Nonetheless, he should take the blame for not keeping himself in better shape, I don't care if you're playing in Montreal or not. Part of his problems this year were injuries but I can't totally take him off the hook. Now, if he comes into training camp in good shape, there are a lot worse players to have on your team than Carl Everett. He doesn't strike out a lot and he's very competitive. He gives you a decent backup option at DH, LF, RF if there's an injury. For those who say he can't play the outfield, I would agree that in 2004 he couldn't. It will all depend on Carl Everett if he can be a viable outfielder in 2005. He's not that old that he can't have a bounce back year. Rowand44
I really have no problem with Carl coming back next year, he's still a solid hitter. Like Jim said if he comes to spring training in shape, he'll be a very productive player to have around next year.
