The Critic
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=95112 Four-on-four hockey featuring a bunch of NHLers, no center red line, the only thing I'm not too keen on is minor penalties resulting in penalty shots. This sounds like fun, though! And from the list of guys who committed, Darcy Hordichuk is planning to play in this league. ( I can't remember who knows him here, but there you go. ) Thoughts? Queen Prawn
Is it true the "original 6" are really just teams that survived the great depression? It would explain out the Sens are on the cup from the early 1900s...
Queen Prawn
Found my answer, and it seems that was pretty much the case. I found this interesting though: The original Ottawa Senators were pretty good...
southsider2k5
It actually gives the NHL a guinne pig of some of the ideas that they had been talking about for new rules. As for the league, it keeps hockey around. And Darcy (see also my www. link)
Spiff
That would be alot of fun. Only thing is that list wasnt to Star-Studed. They need a Thorton, Modano, Sackic, Kovlachuk, Heatley, Fosberg, ect.... I would watch for sure. Luongo would be one if he wasn't playing for the Panthers. If he was playing for the Devils or the Wild he'd never let a goal in.

Yeah Luongo is sick. The Panthers really need to get their act together for his sake.
Mathew
Other players named so far include Dan Cloutier, Chris Osgood, Patrick Lalime, Daniel Briere, Martin Lapointe, Manny Fernandez, Mathieu Garon, Mike Comrie, Jeff Cowan, Jassen Cullimore, Anders Eriksson, Chris Drury, Mike Ricci, Peter Bondra, Bill Lindsay, Scott Barney, Dan Cleary, Shawn Horcoff, Dwayne Roloson and Darcy Hordichuk. There's some names there, for Queen Prawn, sean Hill is playing too.

He's no longer a Cane, but I guess I will still cheer for him. I was a bit miffed that the Canes didn't resign him. I think he went to the Panthers, right? peter bondra -
Spiff
Lunungo is a star. No doubt. He really is close behind Brouder for best goalie in the leauge. But I meant with goal scoring. This leauge, 4-4 with no icing is going to be very, very fast, and all about putting the puck in the net. The goalies arent going to have much fun. Best goalies in the league 1. Luongo 2. Kipper 3. Roloson 17. Brodeur f*** what ESPN tells you. .917 save pct is middle-of-the-road. The fact that he won the Vezina is a f***ing joke. Spiff
I want to see "Kipper" next season. If were doing this last year, Gigure would be in the top 3. I want to see Kippersof so it again next sesaon. Roloson is underratted IMO, your right about that one. He did it in the World Cup, two straight shutouts and they only lost one game the whole tourney, to Canada in the final.

The fact that he won the Vezina is a f***ing joke. That's a good deal over stated I would suggest. .917 should still be top 10 for starting, he led the league in wins, shutouts and minutes I expect. He's never had a bad year and he's certainly proved himself in international tournaments plenty. I know not a single Canadian wanted to see Luongo start in that WC final after watching the Semi. Kipper, give me a break, I'd take Gigure right now over him still, not to mention half the league. He's probably as calm a goalie as I've seen, but the erratic flopping around, that has worked for exactly 38 NHL games can't possibly warrent being considered a top 3 goalie. Roloson....I'll take inconsistant for $200 Alex...He's been dreadful his entire career untill the last 2 seasons. At 30+ I ain't giving him the benefit of the doubt. Brodeur Luongo Turco Theodore Khabbibulin Nobokov Belfour And as a Bruins fan, gotta love the year Raycroft had.

When Clemensen, with 3 prior NHL games, can go 3-1? Playing goalie for the Devils is f***ing cake. So what he led the league in wins, of course he's gonna on that team. I'm talking about the best goalies in the league right now. Brodeur's .917 save pct was 15th-best in the league. Miikka set the record for goals against in a season. Save pct was best in the league. To say you'd take Giguere right now over him is f***ing idiotic. Raycroft had a good year but face it, he choked in the playoffs. Miikka led his team to the cup finals, to what should have been a win, if they hadn't been robbed.
southsider2k5
They are already having rumors that the league is being indefinately suspended.... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=1886658

kapkomet
I know the initial article that tsn.ca had was incorrect. I just looked at the rosters on espn.com and his name was not listed. They were working a contract over in Germany, and actually I have not talked to either Darcy or his agent in about a week. I can have an answer in about 5 minutes, but I'm pretty busy right now (busy enough that I'm here, right)??

I just remember you saying that Germany was most likely, and then his name popped up for that 4-4 league, and I just figured that was the other option he had, and that was the one that worked out. kapkomet
Talked with Darcy's agent - in the email, this little blurb - can you imagine? All of these guys are good guys off the ice - I would imagine this was pretty funny... there are 8 major fighters are together, eating together, etc, which is hysterical - i watched the delhoya fight w darcy, boulton, shelley, downey, vandebusche and cairns, all together at one table, [edit] , etc - laughed a ton

That doesn't surprise me nearly as much after spending that night out to dinner with Darcy and hearing him talk about not wanting to fight his exteammate because he had the flu. But I'll bet that would have been a great time.
