cwsox
1. I wonder how he feels that his dad is out in the streets protesting the same damn thing that he is fighting and putting his life on the line for. 2. Yeah you're right jackass I'm a f***ing Nazi because I am saying that by protesting the war we aren't supporting our troops. 1. Clueless you are - my son was raised to do what in his conscience was good and right between him and his God and he is and I am damned pround of him for makinhg his mind up on his own, without pressure from me to confrom to what I beleive, but to have his own decisions. And he is pleased with me because he knows that I do what in good conscience with God, I do what I need to do, and he knows he has love and respect, and he returns the same, and he can handle two thoughts at the same time. Do you for one second think that I don't passionately want him and all marines, soldiers, naval and air force people to be safe, to be protected, to be safe and return home safely? You are so f***ing ignorant of anything beyond our own prejuidices. Life is far more complex than you ability to imagine. 2. Won't argue with you on that at all. You win. You are. I agree with you. Guest hotsoxchick1
umm hello mcfly... anyone home... empty????? have you ever been in the tower???? its never, ever, ever, never empty... when the offices are closed there are a few thousand people who live in there and dine in there and visit there on a nightly basis...........its NEVER EMPTY........second of all come out of your plastic bubble little boy long enough to realize that there may very well already be a plan in the works to destroy it.... how do you know there isnt.... how do you know that it wasnt thought of when 9-11 happened????? if some little dot headed assholes can sneak into our country, take flying lessons, plan a course of attack, and then carry it out using only a stupid little box cutter as a weapon to take over a f***ing air craft, then how far fectched is it that a plan could be in the works to blow up the tallest f***ing building in the united states????? geez us if you had any sense at all you would realize that in doing so they take down our financial district as well since it sits below the f***ing tower........not to mention half the f***ing city as well...... why dont you think before you make a judgement like the one you just did...............cause you never know if the plan is there or not.. thats why they call them terrorists.... you dont see them coming........... Ummmmmmmmmmmm... The Sears Tower wasn' ever a target. No, its never empty, but the terrorists we're used to dealing with struck the WTC and Pentagon in the early morning for a reason. That's when they're most full of people. That, and I really don't think that having cops and fire fighters sitting around doing nothing (as opposed to being downtown, a few blocks from the building) would really decrease the death count by thousands and thousands if someone ever did hit the building. That, and the structure of the Sears Tower is much sturidier than the WTC. You're just straining to make excuses as to why the war protests are a bad idea. I suppose a meteor could come crashing to the Earth and destroy the Loop and it would be the protestor's fault all the cops and fire fighters died because if there was no protest they wouldn't be there. Or Godzilla could emerge from Lake Michigan. Or vicious, violent aliens could attack Chicago. umm did you read that.. i mean really read it.... between the lines and everything??????? im sure that the sears tower was never a target.. .. does not mean that there is 100% guarentee we know it was not a target.................this is merely one mans opinion... nothing more nothing less.......read it.........im not reaching for excuses about protesters.... these dumbasses have been out there all day long.. since early this morning.. whos to say that something couldnt have happened then.. and while having the cops in front of the tower couldnt have prevented it .. if there were a drive in bombing like the wtc a few years ago then the cop presence could have slowed that much down dont you think?????? you people who are so much against this war dont fully understand what it is about... and it aint oil.... geez us we have our own we dont need theirs quite honestly........its about stopping a group of radical people from harming anyone in the world now or in the future......but you wont understand that untill saddam drops a f***ing nuke on your ass and you glow for 100 years................ cwsox
I do SJD too, I only happened to do SPD this year because I happened to be on town. Went to the opera with Larry, you mt him, my best friend since high school, and from 1965 through 2002 I had never said SPD to him but I did this year and he was shocked - now that I did SPD once in my life never again. I did a bigger than usual SJD thing though to atone. We love each opther and respect each other and also remember those things before we disagree toio much, and in light of love, and respect, and the White Sox, what the f*** dies a disagreement mean ion anything? Besides all Italians disagree. Verdi vs Puccini - Gucci vs Pucci - Armani v Sacchi - spaghetti sauce vs spaghetti gravy - it is just our nature! Ever use cottage cheese instead of ricotta in your lasgna and we have a real knock down drag out though!

OK, first I don't appreciate being called a dumbass. I could have rattled off a list of insults in this thread but I have restrained myself. Second, I have documented proof that states the Sears Tower was never a target. You merely have your own opinion. Find me something that definitely states the Sears Tower was a terrorist target and then we'll talk about that. And again, I still say that if something were to go down, the protestors only help because they draw a much larger crowd of cops and fire fighters to the downtown area than would be there on a regular day. Regardless, like cwsox said, there are all sorts of things that happen in Chicago that require a large police force. I don't see you calling for them to be cancelled because the terror alert is red or whatever.

baggio202
wgn news tonight reported that they got some info from al qaeda captives that the 4th target on 911 ws the sears tower...they just didnt have enough sickos for a 4th high jacking...not sure of al lthe details because i was flipping channels and caught it in the middle but funny this subject came up tonight.. im all for peaceful protesting for anything..its everyone's right...but when you do things like stop traffic, lay down in front of military bases so they cant carry out missions , go out into the woods and spike a tee so it injures or kills someone , attack someone because they are wearing a mink coat then i think you should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.. speaking of "peaceful" protests gone wild (where is snoop when you need him ) in france a crowd for peace formed outside the US embassy...after their protest they decided to go to a local mcdonald's and completely trash it...gotta love the french :fyou

Steff
It will accomplish whatever the framers of the constitution intended when they guarenteed the right to assemble. It certainly is good to see how many other people out there feel as I do and went out and expressed it. Kind of like crowds at a baseball game. They can play before a 0 crowd but it lends a great deal of support when there is a big crowd. And seeing footage of the crowd gives me hope when that many people on short notice inconvenienced themselves to express how deeply they feel about something important. Thinking still exists and we haven't been stampeded yet. cw.. I really don't mean to bust your bubble here.. but according to several people I know that were down there (trying to leave from work) maybe half were sincere in their demonstrating. Once the news camera showed up the crowd tripled in size and it seemed everyone behind the first 1000 or so were on their cell phones calling people to see if they were on TV. Not saying there weren't a lot of legit people.. but a lot were also there just to be seen.
Steff
OK, before the war started, the protesting was ok. But now there is a war, our young boys are dying (12 dead in the chopper crash) so lets just stick all that behind us and unite behind our troops in what we are doing. 4 Americans dead in the chopper crash. 1 American killed by enemy fire. And to protest is their right. They are protesting the war.. is there not a war going on?

The American media loves to find the stupidest jackasses from both side of the political spectrum and give them air time. It makes for riling people up and keeping them glued to the TV. Why do you think guys like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson keep finding their way on television? And no, it doesn't have anything to any intelligent commentary they bring to the table. HSC, a professor and Vietnam vet at my school Joe Miller was giving a speech about why we should oppose the war. (he is also one of the leaders of Vietnam Vets against war) and there was a pro-war activist standing behind him yelling "TRAITOR!" How is that a voice of reason? Or how about the pro-war activists I saw during my 9 hour protest and their argumentation consisted of "Kill that f***er Saddam, "bomb the motherf***ing Iraqis", "f*** the Iraqis", and "Bush!" But I do have to admit Joe's response to that guy was great. The guy was asked by Joe if he served and the guy said no. So Joe told him, "You know it's Republicans like you that are motherf***ers." and the guy got all angry and left, haha.
