no it was meant to be used, but not abused...............and if you cant do it in a legal manner, then why bother...........no one will listen to a bunch of  raving lunatics, but they will listen to one voice of reason.. so far there hasnt been one................

HSC, a professor and Vietnam vet at my school Joe Miller was giving a speech about why we should oppose the war. (he is also one of the leaders of Vietnam Vets against war) and there was a pro-war activist standing behind him yelling "TRAITOR!" How is that a voice of reason? Or how about the pro-war activists I saw during my 9 hour protest and their argumentation consisted of "Kill that f***er Saddam, "bomb the motherf***ing Iraqis", "f*** the Iraqis", and "Bush!"

But I do have to admit Joe's response to that guy was great. The guy was asked by Joe if he served and the guy said no. So Joe told him, "You know it's Republicans like you that are motherf***ers." and the guy got all angry and left, haha.

well actually apu if you had read through all the fighting and anamosity in the previous posts here you would understand that last post i put.... they were talking about how the protesters in the lake shore drive incidents are doing their thing without causing anyone else any harm, troubles, or other obsticles in the way of those who dont want to be involved..... i say they are wrong and they blasted about their rights to free speach and assembly and so on... sure they have those rights and i dont have a problem with them using those rights.. but when it effects me and i dont want to be a party to it i then have a problem with what they are doing cause they force me to partake in it wether i want to or not.,..... ie.. sitting in hour long traffic cause they wont move their dead asses so i can drive through without having to partake in their nonsense...................thats what i meant by my comment.. doub said in a previous post that you had to do things in an illegal way to be heard... i said it wasnt so that there were other options and he never answered me back just gave a sarcastic response to something someone else said.....he never addressed my response though... i was kinda trying to get him to give me feedback............sorry to get you involved in this.........

HSC, I was just wondering what you and others on the board thought of the asshat that was calling a vet a traitor for being against the war.  I didn't mean to change the subject but it REALLY pissed me off yesterday when that nationalistic fascist f*** did that.

I'll tell you what I think... I'm glad you're freind put that dude in his place. Accusing someone of being a traitor because they have difference of opinion is assinine. Even more so because he is a veteran.

in your opinion - not in mine

the howls of the wolves are loud and command this day - those who speak to a different way of thiking have been bashed with a cascade of accusations and geeater howling, including some of the most ad hominem attacks possible

Neither has Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rice, Hastert, McCain, etc..... so you haven't answered my question.

He's had a lot of people degrade him since he is part of Vietnam Vets Against War...most disproportionately conservative Republicans calling him "traitor", "commie", "pinko", "f*****", etc. So he's put up with a lot of s*** and I think is justified saying that Republicans like that guy, not all Republicans are motherf***ers. The ones that can call people "traitors" for only having a differing opinion...those are the motherf***ers.

i dont think that calling any vet a traitor is a commendable act... they already served their time in one way or another for their country so how does that make one a traitor..........i think your proffessor was right to tell that asshat to f*** off........i may not think that this war is right...but i am with the decision to do it because its what our leader thinks needs to be done right now.....im not a sheep following the heard here, thats the military in me that thinks that way... i didnt agree with the last one either but i was in it cause it was my duty......the only regret i have to this day is we didnt finish the job then, so we wouldnt have to deal with it now...........what i am curious about here apu is how did your proffessor feel being a viet nam vet when he came home to his own country and people spitting on him, not letting him go into their grocery stores and such.......ask him how he was treated for doing his duty for his country..........that was a point i was also trying to get across to these guys here......they need to show our troops a bit of support and not bash on them because they are doing their duty................im sure even you can throw me a bone on this one huh............

Yeah nothing tells our troops, our brothers, sisters, families, that we are there for them and support them like protesting out on the streets, virtually telling them that they are doing wrong.

You, my stay at home friend with the bold talk, do nothing for no one.

Go enlist if you support this thing so.

And don't give me this bulls*** about being disloyal to our troops. I will allow myself this righteous anger: :fyou asshole. My son is out there. And I God Bless my son. And I God bless all who serve. And I God bless everyone who was out expressing their patriotic opinion that the decisions made by the administration are wrong. The support for the troops is real and thorough.

Whenever an expression of our opposition to the decisions of the government is linked by assholes like you to being disloyal to the troops, then you are doing nothing more than advancing the same tactics that Nazis, communists, fascists, McCarthyites and others have used to silence dissent - accusations of disloyalty.

The freedom to assemble is a constitutional right for a reason, even if there is a cost. You want all the trains to run on time? Mussolini could give you that. The American system is sometimes messy but it is what it is all about.

Saddam does not allow demonstrations opposed to his views - you attack demonstrations with views different than yours. Change your name to OfficerSaddam and it would be accurate with who your soul mate is.

And I await your announcement of your impending service in support of our troops, or just what exactly you will do to support the troops. With my "Invade Iraq? No!" bumber sticker on my car,. I am welcome at my local VFW and American Legion because in this small town they can tell the difference between supporting the people who serve with not supporting the government's policy. What do you do to support the troops?

I will not be sorry for being angry at an asshole like you who accuses others of disloyalty to my son and his fellow Marines and all of our troops just because we disagree with the administration's polcies. Have you given blood yet? Have you volunteered at a VA home? Taken a diabled veteran to the doctor or out for lunch? Stopped at the recruiters office and brought coffee and donut? Anything rather than trash talk people you dont like?

f***ing lazy big talk do nothing asshole.

As long as my son is out there and you are all mouth here, be prepared to get slammed back at out in full measure for the accusations you make.

Logically, I think Saddams soulmates would be the ones protesting this war since if you protest the war you obviously want him to stay in power. Pro war people want him out of power and dead, so how on earth can we be Saddams soulmates? Use your head...

these protesters are such a small % of the people in a city but when a city is that big its enough to close streets. i swear the say give peace a chance. but its ok to kill your own people

o yea lets go break some store windows while we sing give peace a chance.

Psycho, use your head.

Your take on this all is naive. If only life were so simplistic. But it is not.

And Sadam's soulmates are precisely those people who would stifle dissent and differening opinions. The only difference between those who scream venom at those who dissent in this country and Saddam who kills those who dissent in his country is that we haven't let the Jr. Saddams take over the government - completely - yet.

I love you, kid. I want to be there when you get commissioned.

And I want this nation to eman something, this nation that you wish to serve, and the maelstrom that we have entered into is an area of greatest danger. Read what i wrote elsewhere about who has embraced Saddam and others like him in the past. It is very short sighted to think the problem began in the immediate past or that war is the answer to it.

Thanks for pointing out the fact that you've lumped myself and all the other pro-President/pro-Troops into the "Jr. Saddam" category. I'm glad someone showed me the road I'm heading down.

BTW..... that is the most prejudiced and offensive statement made by a poster on this board since the beginning of the Iraq War..... using a Goering speech to describe myself and other's aside.

I don't think that Goering quote was aimed that the pro-war folk; I think it was aimed at the cowboy in the White House and his top officials.

Of course, that's how I read it.

Me too and it's almost word for word to today's situation.

He said that he forgave the very slim minority that called them "baby killers" etc. Especially after everybody found out that the Gulf of Tonkin event never happened, it made people more angry at the US government than anything they did (at least that was his experience). He's been able to help people turn their anger towards people who served into anger towards the government for lying to the public and condemning the government for the death of 58,000 Americans and the 2-3 million Vietnamese all over an event that never took place.

I support the troops a lot. It saddens me that they are being used to die while our Commander in Thief sits in his office lying to the American public about "proof" that Iraq has weapons, "proof" that Iraq is tied to Al Qaeda. It sickens me that Dubya is trying to lie his way into making people sacrifice their bodies and their lives for a war.

I support the troops a lot, enough to bring them home from a place where even the neighboring countries aren't afraid of Saddam. I support the troops but I am wholeheartedly against the deployment of them in this area under the pretexts given by the Bush administration. If anybody doesn't care about the troops, it's Bush because he is allowing them to die under his command and is justifying it with lies about Iraq. Makes me sick to my goddamned stomach. Especially since Bush can find it in his heart and mind to unapologetically send young people off to die in the military and when it was his time to serve, he went AWOL like a little chickenhawk.

Right on Chicago!  My home town comes through!

Let's see............ They're f***ing up people's day including people who are just trying to earn money for a living . Pissing a lot of people off, and accomplishing nothing. Protest it, fine. Dont embarrass Chicago on national tv by being an asshole.

hey, my friend, key words are "scream venom" as opposed to differ rationally.

Everyone can put themselves in their own camp there but CK I was not thinking of you at all when I wrote that.

And I find a lot of very offensive posts in all of these threads. The ones that call people antiAmerican or anti our troops are deeply insulting. The posts that called for deporting everyone who protested and other such things - that is Junior Saddamism. And it exists in the right and the left and for those who have no political philosophy and only are about aggrandizement.

CK, if I wanted to call you out, i would that to you, but as I said, i wasn't thinking of you there. If I wanted to call you out, I'd start by calling you a f***ing Notre Dame fan before I went anywhere else.

Actually, cw, I dont want to be a soldier anymore. Not because of fear of humans, but out of fear of God. But Im not jumping ship on the whole idea. Instead, I plan to become a navy gunnery officer on a aegis destroyer in the Persian Gulf. Atleast thats what I will request, I could get something completely different. I might end up a foot soldier but Im kinda doubting it. And I still want to be there! I dont want to join the Marines and just end up stateside. That in my eyes would be a failure...
