redandwhite
The Tribune today mentioned that if/when Jay Gibbons gets a subtantial raise due to arbitration, the White Sox will be interested in acquiring him to replace Magglio Ordonez in right field. That is of course if Magglio doesn't resign. He is having an awful year, but he's had a few good seasons, and if he's available for cheap due to the raise, I'd definitly take a chance on him. BlackBetsy
I would, too. He's had an injury filled year, but he has patience, very good power, and plays decent defensively. At the price he'll likely go for, he would be a nice pick up for the White Sox. But, boy is he ugly. Think Ron Karkovice. You should have seen the work they did on his face so his bobblehead wouldn't scare children. Mercy!
SoxAce
I'm a huge fan of his. I'll take him!! A change of scenery is what he needs IMO. Edited September 20, 2004 by SoxAce

T R U
We need an AVG hitter, not another Power
santo=dorf
Maybe we can trade one hideous looking RF for another.

CWSGuy406
Batted above .250 once in 4 years OBP over .333 never. Sign me up!!! Ditto (assuming that was being sarcastic?). Hell, I'll take Carl Everett over him. Like Cheat said, his OBP is low as hell - even during 'healthy' years. He isn't that good, IMHO... JoshPR
Gibbons has been hurt this season, All he can do is get better, plus he's a lefty powerhitter

qwerty
Gibbons has been hurt this season, All he can do is get better, plus he's a lefty powerhitter Why can he only get better just because he is only 27?
GreenSox
Just what we need- another player with a sub 320 career OBP. How about getting some good players onto the White Sox

SuperSteve
I'd take him if he came here as a backup OF and he was acquired for a minimal cost.
winninguglyin83
when you're lusting after marginal hitters from a third-place team, that's when you know how really bad you are.
SuperSteve
when you're lusting after marginal hitters from a third-place team, that's when you know how really bad you are. Who is lusting over Jay Gibbons? I think he is a guy whom we could take a CHANCE on if the price is right, I am far from lusting over him. redandwhite
Although I am not a fan of trading Konerko whatsoever, if he does happened to be traded, Gibbons is a definite upgrade over Gload at first base.

CubsSuck1
We really don't need to take chances. We could probably do a lot better with Maggs salary gone and any budget increases.
