Texsox
Does anyone have any experiences to share with on-line job sites like Monster? I am looking to make a change, and am starting to look at various resources. So far they do not seem to promising. One issue I am facing is I want to switch careers, so I think I will need something more than a searchable resume database.
southsider2k5
I used Monster to get the job that I have now. Granted it isn't a great job, but it worked.

Queen Prawn
I've used those. I got the job I am at now by posting my resume in what seemed like a little used site (American something or another). I've gotten more interviews from job postings on Careerbuilder than I ever did from Monster. Yahoo's hot jobs isn't bad, not great, but not bad. I am a whole slew of web pages at home. kapkomet
I've hired my staff through monster. There's just so much crap to sort through though. That's a big disadvantage to monster, is so many people use it, from an employee perspective. From an employer standpoint, it's great because the fees are small compared to recruiting people. CaliSoxFan
I have been using a variety of these types of sites, but have not gotten much. I started to use a site called craigslist.org, which you can post your resume, but is is more of an online classified for selected cities. I have gotten two response thus far. Of course, if anyone reading this wants to hire a soon-to-receive his masters in museum studies I am willing to relocate.

southsider2k5
LMAO. Isn't it nice that you have a million dollars in some Nigerian Bank account, if you just send a few dollars their way? Don't get any funny ideas, that money is what I am using to buy into the White Sox so I can sit next to Corg at the board meetings From: Maryam.A Date: Fri, 7 May 2004 19:43:00 -0600 Subject: KINDLY ASSIST MY FAMILY To: From:Maryam Abacha Lagos-Nigeria. Dear Sir/Madam, May I crave your indulgence to open this business discussion with you by an informal letter of this sort. It is pertinent that a business of this magnitude should have commenced properly with a formal meeting between you and us to enable both parties know ourselves, have a fore knowledge of the nature of the business, discuss and acquaint ourselves with the responsibilities and functions of both parties and appropriate shares accordingly. Following the sudden death of my husband General Sani Abacha the late former head of state of Nigeria in june 1998, I have been thrown into a state of utter confusion, frustration and hopelessness by the present civilian administration, I have been subjected to physical and psychological torture by the security agents in the country. My son was just released from detention a year ago by the Nigerian Government for an offence he did not commit. As a widow that is so traumatized, I have lost confidence with anybody within the country. You must have heard over the media reports and the internet on the recovery of various huge sums of money deposited by my husband in different security firms abroad, some companies willingly give up their secrets and disclosed our money confidently lodged there or many outright blackmail. In fact the total sum discovered by the Government so far is in the tune of $700. Million dollars. And they are not relenting to make me poor for life. I got your contacts through my personal research, and out of desperation decided to reach you through this medium.I will give you more information as to this regard as soon as you reply.I repose great confidence in you hence my approach to you due to security network placed on my day to day affairs I cannot afford to visit the embassy so that is why I decided to contact you and I hope you will not betray my confidence in you. I have deposited the sum of 30.000.000 million dollars with a security firm abroad whose name is witheld for now until we open communication.I shall be grateful if you could receive this fund into your account for safe keeping. This arrangement is known to you and my son Ahmed alone, so my son will deal directly with you as security is up my whole being.I am seriously considering to settle down abroad in a friendly atmosphere like yours as soon as this fund get into your account so that I canstart all over again if only you wish, but if it is impossible, just help me in diverting this fund into your account which will accrue you 30% of this fund. Please honesty is the watch word in this transaction.I will require your telephone and fax numbers so that we can commence communication immediately and I will give you a more detailed picture of things. In case you don`t accept please do not let me out to the security as I am giving you this information in total trust and confidence .I will greatly appreciate if you accept my proposal in good faith. Please expedite action by sending your reply to my son email addresses below. Sincerely Yours, HAJIA MARYAM ABACHA.
