Well, his numbers have been great this year no doubt about that.  I'm not just saying I think he can be a solid everyday player though because of the those numbers, I've been a big fan of Ross since I've seen him play for the sox.  I love his hitting approach, I love the way he takes what pitchers give him, unlike a lot of guys on this team he's not pull happy, he'll hit the ball opposite way.  I know a ton of people got down on him cause he dropped a couple of flyballs in the outfield, well he's not an outfielder.  He's a very good defensive firstbasemen, he's got very good speed for a firstbasemen.  Imo, gload can hit .280 over a full season, 20 homers, 75 rbi's.  He's also one of those guys that hawk would say "don't tell me what he hits, tell me when he hits it," there aren't many other guys on the sox I'd want up more in a clutch situation then ross.  I really do believe gload can be a very solid firstbasemen and maybe help the team more then pauly would and I know pauly puts up far better numbers but sometimes guys like Gload can help your team out more with his style of play under our current manager.  With Konerko's value so high I definitely believe we could get a solid leadoff man and maybe a bullpen arm to go along with, the trade jason proposed a week or so ago Pauly for Furcal and Cruz doesn't seem that far out of the realm of possibility.  Imo, it just makes perfect sense to trade Pauly when his value is at his highest, with a good replacement in place, and our manager and gm wanting to change the look of this team to more speed and defense.

c'mon, man, what good is a hitter who hits when it counts. as fans, we should demand the White Sox get another hitter who only hits in blowouts and hits a lot of solo homers when up by 5+ runs. numbers is the key to everything.

in all seriousness though, the debate here shouldn't be Konerko vs. Gload, but Konerko vs. Gload and Other ($7 million).

who knows what Gload is going to do, but you never know what you are going to get when you make a decision like this ... you just have to look at the player and see if he is the type of guy you want. Gload isn't a guy who is going to put up crazy numbers, but he is someone who isn't going to hurt you, which in a way is more valuable than a guy like Konerko, who can go on a month long slump and really really hurt you, as he is then just another slow right-handed hitter.

Oh, I'm definitely not arguing ross vs. pauly, like you said it's gload and more, plus gloads a better player to fit with what ozzie wants to do.

that's a good point also.

I don't believe that there are many bad managers. I think most managers need a certain group of players in order to succeed. a guy like Gload fits Guillen more so than Konerko, who just swung at the first pitch after a walk and got jammed hitting a weak flyball to left.

Its nice to see Kubel and Restovich and Mourneau come up this year and look good, while Joe Borchard and Felix Diaz look both like total crap.

I substituted the second reference of Joe Borchard for Felix Diaz, although it could have been any of our outstanding minor league callups. Everytime I watch Minnesota promote a player who immediately contribues against our team I feel the need to vomit. Is it this easy? Is our minor league organization this terrible? How long do I have to wait for our Lew Ford, Justin Morneau, Ricardo Rincon, or J.C. Romero?

What's disheartening about our position in the standings is once again the Sox well be void of a decent draft choice. Sox sign a Class A FA and their first round draft selection is gone. Might as well lose the remainder of the games and hope several teams below us rebound and overtake our record.

Here are the questions Ozzie should be asking:

Arow worked out in Las Vegas this offseason. What did he do to prepare physically and mentally for this season. Whatever he did copy it and use it as a blueprint for what we are looking for. He is the proper definition of a grinder.

Who will replace Don Cooper, if they keep him on I have even less respect for them. Under his leadership the pitching staff has gotten worse mentally. The pitch calls in key situations are terrible, and no adjustments are made through a game.

Buy Jose Valentin and Sandy Alomar their gold watches and wish them a happy career elsewhere. Alomar is not healthy enough anymore and Jose is prototypical of everything that has been wrong with the sox over the last three seasons.

Will Walk learn how to teach a level swing to our hitters. He worked hard this year to change Carlos Lees compact swing during his 28 game hitting streak and turned it into a home run swing. Thank you for helping the team with your leadership walk. Here is your severence. Konerko made a comment that without Thomas they didnt have enough home run hitters. The entire team is made up of people who cant hit above 250 and try to jack home runs like crazy. This truly once and for all proves that the collective IQ on this team is slighty higher than a lemming.

Stop blaming the hitting coach, first it was von joshua's fault, then Gary Ward's fault, and now Walk's fault, ever thought the players themselves might have something to do with it?

Ted williams can be the white sox hitting caoch and people would still blame him if the team did not hit.

and you are in the clubhouse on a daily basis to prove this theory with Cooper and Walker, right?

Walk worked with Carlos this year and specifically worked with him to change his swing from a compact line drive swing to a extend your arms and hit home runs.

This is why I blame him.

Von Joshua was the one who stated that our hitters were listening to their agents and couldnt resist the power number appeal. He basically called our hitters out as money grubbing mopes.

The first part doesn't describe PK.

The second part is both here and there -- you say it isn't about Paulie v Gload, then you go on to say Gload is the a player who "in a way is more valuable". It's not a fair argument to say, "don't compare them", then "by the way, Gload's a more valuable player".

I should've made myself more clear. I meant more valuable as in within our specific team. if we had a team full of Gloads, then a guy like Konerko is more valuable than another Gload, but a guy like Gload, if he does play like he's been this year, brings more to the table than Konerko based on what this team is looking for and needs.

I hear that Atlanta was going to getting ready to give Leo Mazzone the boot if they could get their hands on our pitching genius Don Cooper

Leo Mazzone is recognized and considered by many to be very good.

in most cases, nobody really knows.
