Seems like shock and awe is in full steam ahead now.  Anyone else get sort of depressed when they see the images.  Another war. :(

it was kinda wierd watching it all unfold on tv..its a good thing though...people need to see whats going on as much as possible so campaigns of disinformation on both sides cant be made..

im interested to find out how accurate these missiles really are...how far our technology has come...want to make sure they all hit the right targets and not civilian buildings...

i find it interesting we didnt take out any power plants.,,people in baghdad can watch this too...thats gotta be really wierd..

My uncle said they can get within a meter of the intended target. That's 100000% better than the last ones. Technology, eh?

Ya, the new technology in this is amazing.

Oh ya, for all those protesters that always mention how we are going after Iraq despite the fact that North Korea has nukes and shouldn't they be the concern. Well, this message is probably being read drastically by the Koreans, now knowing that it may not be as easy as he thought.

Thats not why they are doing it, but I'm sure it scares the crap out of him too.

I know it's hard to believe, but the citizens or Iraq are not the target Baggs..... contrary to popular anti-war protestor belief. Knocking out their power would create a situation not so advantageous to the Allied side..... such as possibly panicking the Iraqi's and driving them out into the streets where they would be more susceptible to Allied bombing.

its amazing the accuracy isnt it??..usually you knock out power as a form of cover...but its not even needed...

reports coming from observers on the ground have said there are places in the city where targets were completely turned to ruble..and a few meters away another building stands completey untouched..tremendous accuracy...have to wait for first light to verify this but first reports shows complete success with very low collateral damage..lets hope thats the case

I see the big picture..... trust me. While I am for this war, it sickens me everytime I hear of an Allied casualty. I think about the "what if's" as I watch the bombs exploding. I think of friends serving in the Iraq War. I think about how all of this could have been avoided if Saddam wouldn't have been so full of pride and had just stepped down or given UN inspectors unrestricted access like the world had requested him to do. Even though I am for this war, this is the last thing I wanted for the men and women of our Armed Forces. Nobody wants war..... ever. Me included.

Saddam is a prick. However, I think there were better non-war substitutes for getting rid of his ass and toppling his power. On March 7, Blix stated that they were getting compliance and that lethal weapons were being destroyed, but Bush seems hellbent on going to war (I mean 10 million people on 2/15 protesting...the largest protest occurs in British history, that might just tell you something about how wrong it is)

It saddens me that Bush kept going on his push to war ::chants "Support our troops / Send them home":: (nearly lost my voice chanting that yesterday during the march) but the pro-war people I encountered in the past weeks and especially recently are all like "This war is perfect for toppling Saddam!" to which I ask, "If you believe in it so much, then go serve" and they all turn tail and hide in their little posh lifestyle. Why the hypocricy?

I think we all concur that we support the troops but I for one am against the piss poor diplomacy used by our "President" which caused the deployment of my brothers and sisters to go kill my dark skinned brothers and sisters over 1 guy being an asshat and some f***ing oil. (Exactly how did our oil get under their sand anyway?) That is why I protest the war. I have seen enough death and destruction in the 20 years I have been on the planet already and don't need to see more especially when there are peaceful solutions to the problem. I don't want to see Iraqi or American lives shattered, families grieving, and all the other horrible s*** that goes on with warfare. If Bush had such a tight case then why was Powell's speech plagiarized and filled with lies, why can't the CIA connect Saddam to bin Laden, et al.?

Like Richard Nixon said, "Fighting for peace is like f***ing for virginity."

There are diplomatic solutions to get him out of power that were not attempted.

Also, if he was such a brutal and bloodthirsty dictator, WHY DID RUMMY AND THE US SELL HIM WMD's? I am against Saddam's killing but "Fighting for peace is like f***ing for virginity". We happily supplied Saddam with the WMD's needed to do whatever he wanted. Now's its called "blowback", the same way the CIA had their "blowback" when we trained bin Laden in the 1980s. A short term orgy of feel good violence against Iraq won't solve the war on terrorism. What about the struggling former Soviet republics who have nuclear arsenals and could be willing to sell them for food? Or how about the growing Taliban movement in Pakistan (popular to about 30% or so of the population including much of the military which installed Musharref into power)...would we invade a country of 130 million people with nuclear capabilities to get rid of the new Taliban style regime? Or how about N. Korea whose people are starving? What is to stop them from selling their nukes to terrorists?

The government needs to think of the long term consequences of their actions before acting because we keep having it blow back in our faces (read as 9/11)

it is b/c of 9/11 that we need to step up and if that means being the world police then so be it.

I am convinced that lots of presidents are corporate whores in both parties. It's sickening. The Democrats say something like "Save the environment" and then they go take money from loggers behind everybody's back. The Republicans just give the bastards an office in the West Wing.

9/11 was a terrible event that was brought on by our piss poor foreign policy. Now it's beginning to smack of 1984 with PATRIOT II in the works (which states that anybody caught by the government...citizen or not...for protesting the government "maliciously" or trying to "influence or coerce a government" will be deported for the US) HOW IS THAT FOR VAGUE WORDING TO BE ABUSED?

The War on Terror...please tell me how killing everybody who hates us is going to make us safer. I personally think we'll all be safer when people aren't starving and we don't have places paying people piss poor wages so we can buy cheap running shoes. Having economic stability for people etc. is how to make our homeland secure...not some crazy missile defense system that Raytheon and Bush are planning. (Exactly how will tactical nuclear missiles from outer space stop planes from flying into buildings, car bombs, and other terrorist activities anyways?)

It's beginning to look a lot like 1984, endless endless war..."Those who would give up essential liberties for temporary freedom deserve neither freedom nor liberty" - Ben Franklin

i never said kill all who hates us, but to get rid of the power who can do mass destruction. i want to stop them before they can do more damage. history has a knack of repeating it self and we should learn from history. i do not want to kill all moslem but i want to have some people like saddam and some of his people answer for the crimes they are doing.

thanks and many thanks.

what i see is that even tho i have relatives out there in the military, my cuz included. this is a job that needed to get done. saddam if not stop now, will get stronger and the weapons he is building would cost more lives in the future. there was and is nothing that could've convince the bastard to give up. i am not a bush backer or a republican, but i believe that he and the un have done all they could to get him to give up. even the arab nations was trying to no success.

this was the only choice and you know what, his son is worst than saddam.

Sideshowapu has finally said something I agree with. I, too, have been concerned about the possibility of this situation and our gov't making "1984" a reality. When it comes right down to it, I don't really trust any of them.

Ashcroft's new "PATRIOT II" scares the s*** out of me. It's beginning to look more and more like 1984.

War is peace, slavery is freedom, etc. etc. etc.

WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO you are right on apu lets see how long saddan can beat around the bush, lie, kill, build more weapons. you are just a big push over that let people play mind games with you.

has for me goin to war myself i support it but i would not be able to serve because i myself probally could never kill someone but i understand it needs to be done, thus being said i have a great apreciance for our troops over there.

As the father of a Marine, the utter hypcorasy of what you are saying appalls me. And you don't even see it. Never send off someone else to do what you are not prepared to do yourself unless you want to live as the most selfisha nd chicken s*** person.

When a Marine or any service person fall in the line of duty, those who sent them there better be ready to take their place in line. America was built by people who backed up their words with their convictions, not with (cowards? hypocrites? pick the word yourself) who talked big but wouldn't getinvolved themselves.

People with balls use them for something other than hanging onto when they are scared and hiding behind others who they send to do their fighting for them.
