greg775
In today's Daily Herald: Willie Harris might not be at the top of the list, but he unquestionably has been one of the White Sox' most disappointing players this season. Just ask him. "I didn't have a Willie Harris year,'' Harris said. "Defensively, I've been terrific. Outstanding year. Offensively, I've struggled a little here and there. I did well at some points, but then I'd hit a slump and didn't play well. That's my fault.'' --I like Willie's personality, I do. But ... Willie doesn't deserve to refer to his performance as not being "a Willie Harris year." What the heck is a Willie Harris year? .250 at best? Bad instincts on bases. Good fielding. Defensively, I've been terrific? Modesty Willie is the best policy. I like Willie's enthusiasm, but I think these quotes were dumb.
santo=dorf
Who the hell does he think he is, that Leon guy from the Bud commercials? I remember hearing a reporter going on the score talking about how big Willie's head was when he was hitting well in May.
WilliamTell
Haha, he didn't have a Willie Harris year last year or the year before, this has been his best year in my opinion.
Chisoxfn
I actually liked it. Numerous references have been made about Willie Harris and confidence and to me this is one of the very few times I've herad Willie Harris confident. To me he feels a Willie Harris type year is a good year and that since he's talking about himself, he has confidence in himself. And he's right, defensively he's been oustanding and I do think that Ozzie deserves a good portion of the blame for handling Willie like absolute s***. Hell, I can only hope Ozzie is like Baker in the sake that he's a great players manager that gets the best out of his players, because as a an actual "manager" Ozzie absolutely blows, so does Dusty Baker. greg775
Good replies. I won't stress over Willie bein' Willie.
witesoxfan
It can be looked at as good or bad. Being too over-confident, or feeling he can be a better player. I do want to see Willie remain in the organization though...not even necessarily as a starter, but he can be a valuable piece to the puzzle. BlackBetsy
I'm just excited that we finally have a player who refers to himself in the third person.

mmmmmbeeer
Considering all the s*** that has been dribbling out of OG's mouth about Willie, I think it's pretty evident he's trying to sell himself off as solid potential. Nothing wrong with that. I'd much rather here him admit to not living up to his potential than to hear him say that he's had a great year. If he'd said he's had a great year, well, he doesn't have a job after this year if those numbers are the best he can do.
SoxAce
Willie is a p.i.m.p.

Willie didn't deserve to play with Uribe and Valentin in front of him. That's not mishandling players, that's winning games. This is the Majors Jason, it's not about letting prospects get at bats. Willie was going through a terrible stretch and probably couldn't hit A ball his confidence and swing was so bad. Sorry to sound like a hardass Jason, but I strongly disagreed with what you said. Chisoxfn
I'm referring to early in the year when Uribe and Willie were both doing good. Now I realize Jose was doing good at that time as well, but their was also a period where Uribe was absolutely awful and still getting a ton of playing time while every time Willie did anything he was pretty much relegated to the bench the next day. I just think Ozzie needs to stop ripping his players in the media and start talking and doing what he can to help his players. I just don't think its good when a manager is always taking shots at players. I think every once in a great while, that time of thing can really spark a player, but when its constantly happening (I'm not referring to just Willie anymore) then I think it can have a negative effect. As far as Willie goes at this point and for the past two months, he hasn't done much of anything, imo, other then his 5-5 game, but I think a good amount of that is due to the way he was handled. And ya, sometimes you have to think about winning more, but at the same time, I Think Ozzie could of done a much job handling him and other youngsters. Hell, I'm baffled by his love of Timo and Jose at this point.

AngelasDaddy0427
I agree. Willie was totally mishandled. It's hard to do a job when you have to sorry about losing time for every little mistake. I like that he knows he can do better and that is great. Besides that .343 OBP isn't too bad... The Bones
Damn, looking at the title I thought this quote would have something to do with women waiting for him at the hotels. Oh well, next year is the year of The Willie Harris.
YASNY
Ozzie is what Ozzie is. He's never shy about expressing himself to the media or anyone else. The players know that Ozzie won't say anything to the press that he doesn't say to their faces. So far, I haven't heard one player express anything about Ozzie that has been negative. I don't have a problem with Ozzie telling things like he sees them.
