kapkomet
Hmmm. Just in time for the elections. Are gas prices a little too high for comfort, Georgey??????????? :puke
southsider2k5
Actually this time it makes sense to tap it IMO. This latest price spike is due to a temporary capacity shortage brought about by Ivan. Production will be back to normal quickly, and all this does is prevent a two or three week shortage down the line, when all of this crude would have normally been refined. It is obvious that the amount of crude being pumped was enough, as the price of crude had dropped about $7 a barrel over September. For a shortterm cover, it makes sense. YASNY
Hmmm. Just in time for the elections. Are gas prices a little too high for comfort, Georgey??????????? :puke Ya. Bush has a lot of nerve timing that hurricane so close to the election. :rolly The last time Washington loaned oil from the SPR was in late 2002, when Hurricane Lili disrupted shipments into Gulf Coast distribution hubs. Hell. The bastards did the same thimg before the 2002 congressional elections! Give me a break.
Texsox
If people vote for President George W. Bush because gas prices are down a dime, so be it. The President and elected leaders should do what is right and the public should be able to separate the normal running of the government versus electioneering. But we all have short memories. Same thing with those people predicting Binny being paraded forward as a last minute election stunt. I cannot imagine the President having the capacity to capture Binny and not using it. If they could have gotten him two years ago, they would have. If they could have gotten him two months ago, they would have. If they wanted to get him two minutes ago, they would have. Problem is, they cannot get him.
