The Critic
Wow. For all the bad at-bats and poor defensive play this year, this kind of night might fool the Sox brass to keep him there. Glad to see the bomb, but I still hope to see a new 3B next year.
greg775
I say we keep him. Way too much potential. Way to go, Joe. I ain't gonna criticize you tonight. Nice at bats, nice blast to rf for the homer after Jamie Burke failed miserably before you. Upgrade at catcher, KEEP JOE CREDE!
fathom
Congrats to Crede for an impressive night. I still think this organization will have a hard time getting rid of him after all the years of praising him through the system.

DonkeyKongerko
How tantalizing is it that this guy plays so well in September and sometimes April to make you think he has all the tools? This is still his most disappointing year in the majors but I still root for the guy. He may be "uncoachable" with that long swing but I don't mind keeping him around with someone else to platoon him.

greg775
I like you guys, but to blast him after that home run is shallow I believe. He's had some critical hits this year. I say keep him.
Flash Tizzle
I've patiently waited for someone to create a thread referring to tonights game so I can mention Neal Cotts. Merely because I love pointing out every miniscule failure of this kid as to enrage his loyal fan club. () This evening the Overlord of stranding inherited runners allows two to score while giving up a HR to Stairs the following inning. Vintage Neal. Oh yeah. /JOE CREDE!!!!! The for's and against for keeping Joe Crede: FOR: Has excellent power potential for a third baseman. Could become a gold glover one day. Still young and could develop like Adrian Beltre did this season. AGAINST: Is stubborn and not willing to listen to Greg Walker to correct his swing. He's been here almost 3 seasons, and we're still waiting for him to emerge. Could be very good trade bait. Has an average of below .250, which isn't acceptable for an everyday player, especially at a hitting park like the Cell.

elrockinMT
Games like this shows Crede's potential. I have always thougt we should keep him. Way to go Joe Crede!
fathom
If Cotts doesnt learn a better offspeed pitch, he's never going to be the pitcher that many on this board think he can be.
Whitewashed in '05
I think everyone is forgetting something more important than Crede that happened tonight. WE CAME BACK!!! How long has it been since the sox have come back like that? Sure its against a bad team but s*** they did it. The reason I believed so much that the sox were making the playoffs this season is because of their comebacks. Comebacks show that the team doesn't give up and play with heart and thats what lead me to believe we were going to make it. Then... everyone started getting into slumps and injuries and it all went down south. Next season I really hope they can play like this EVERYGAME! I still don't believe that he's the answer at 3B. Good point about it being a crap KC team, but excelling against any team in our division is good, cause this year we've sucked against so called bad teams. I respect your opinion. Joe certainly has sucked during a majority of games. If it is true he's uncoachable and too stubborn then let him go, I guess. But if that is not true, I think he'd be suitable at 3B and we could try to strengthen some other positions. For instance I would much rather have Joe at third than keep our current situation at catcher and rf minus Maggs.

Beltre's first 2 full seasons were much better than Crede's, so at least they knew he could do something, even when he wasn't. Crede hasn't shown that yet. On the other hand, I don't think he'll bring much in a trade, unless he's part of a package. Maybe another intriguing disappointment to match (a different sort of challenge trade), or an okay reliever, or a good AAA reliever, or a middle-of-the-road prospect. But he's shown too little, he's too risky, for someone to give up a big piece for him (unless perhaps that piece carries a big price tag, too). JDsDirtySox
Still young and could develop like Adrian Beltre did this season. I keep telling myself this over and over. Beltre has been in the league since 98, and just like Crede... every year was supposed to be his year. Dodger Fans have wanted him gone for three years, and now he is an NL MVP Canidate. I am not saying Joe Crede is next years AL MVP, but I fully believe Crede putting up a monster year next year is possible. Adrian Beltre, Aramis Ramirez, Hank Blalock, etc. There have been a lot of young 3rd Basemen that didn't burst onto the seen from day one... or year one... maybe not even year two. Just try to see the talent and potential there.

A little harsh, but no single player contributed to our demise more than did Joe Crede. Not even Timo. I just get on Timo because I have a feeling that Hawk keeps him as a pet in a cage in his basement at home.
toasty
... crede has 19 homers this year... should finish with at least 20... and has 70 some RBI's ... in a BAD YEAR ... this is his first full year @ the majors, although it is pretty much a foregone conclusion in my mind that jose is gone after this year, i would much rather jose leave and keep crede than the other way around... for yes, i agree, joe's .230ish average is not good, maybe one or 2 hits per week puts him at least about .260 ish which is much better looking... and if you can save some cash on 3b, it gives us more cash to upgrade more in other areas. .... A little harsh, but no single player contributed to our demise more than did Joe Crede. Not even Timo. I just get on Timo because I have a feeling that Hawk keeps him as a pet in a cage in his basement at home. No other sinlge player??? substitue maggs or frank (or JOSE) for that matter in that statement and it looks just the same. While maggs and frank cant really help the injuries, i cant see blaming crede for the teams woes... no way. Joe was never intended to carry this team
