clujer420
I thought of something... Sox fans should STUFF the All-Star voting ballots this season and try to get 4 or 5 Sox players in the starting lineup. I live out west, and won't be going to any games at US Cellular, but if everyone that goes to games would vote everytime they go (maybe more than once each time ), I think we could make some noise. I mean, look at it actually... We've got a shot at legitmately getting the starting pitcher (Buehrle or Colon), the DH (Frank), the first baseman (Konerko), and the right fielder (Magglio), and possibly 2 bullpen spots (Koch and Marte). That's 4 or 5 guys that could actually earn a spot. If we stuff the ballots for guys like Valentin, Lee, and Crede (assuming they're having good seasons and other people vote for them too), it's possible to get them in the game as well. I think that would be awesome.
CubKilla
Good point..... especially since there is an outside possibility that Dusty Baker could, if the sCrUBS play way above their heads for the first half, load the NL team with sCrUBS. I pity the sCrUB player that makes the NL All-Star team. The booing has got to be ungodly and Sox fans MUST make it unforgetable.
whitesox247
3 starters could be realistic, if they're all having great seasons, although I dont quite see Colon beating out Pedro, Zito, and all the other guys as the starting AL pitcher. I actually think he could beat out Zito or Pedro. It all depends on the first half of the season panns out. If he has a lower ERA and a higher win total, he will be selected over the other two. This being HIS ballpark also helps out in his favor.
Molto
unlike other parks though, it is hard to get the ballots. maybe it is just me, but I always have a hard time finding the ballots at USC.

But clueless baseball fans, most of them casual (see: Cub fans) choose the All-Star starters..... not the fans that have as much baseball knowledge as one should to vote for who should REALLY start for an All-Star team. Wow, that sucks. I've never been to Comiskey/US Cellular, so you would know better than me. All I know for certain is that I'm gonna vote like mad when I'm at the Dodger/Sox games in June. The ballots are all over the place at Dodger Stadium.

witesoxfan
I've got a plan that I'm going to try to do. Over the internet, you can vote for the All-Star game....and what I figure I can do is just register a new email address each day, and vote all 25 times. If I can actually do this....and say I vote for 30 days(like 1 month)....that is about 750 votes. If I did it for 2 months....that'd be 1500 votes. If 10 people did this....that'd be 15,000 votes. If 10 more people did it....it'd be 30,000 votes. If 20 more did it....that'd be 60,000. If we could get 60,000 more votes for Sox guys....I'm sure we'd get a few more starters. I usually vote for Expos and Padres for the NL team, if I vote that at all. I have never understood why any Sox fan votes for any one for the all star team other than our own. Who gives a f*** about being "fair" and casting votes like you are some really important voice of sports and it makes a difference? It doesn't make a damn bit of difference that you anguished over who is the 3rd best OFer in the AL. f*** you, vote foir the 3 Sox players listed! Do you think MLB is going to stop and look at your ballot and say, hmmm, this guy is right? Hell no. All they do is count votes. We are Chicago, damn it, and if we can't stuff ballots and elect our own then we should be ashamed. The name of the game is how many Sox can we elect and it really pisses me off year after year when Sox fans vote for players from other teams and the Sox player with the best finish comes in 6th. Bighurt52235
Vote for Royce Clayton anyways. To a game in voting season since 98, but When I did I grabbed a bunch of ballots and marked Sox players only. I don't beieve there is anyone stopping you from grabbing about 50 ballots at a time and marking up all Sox players.
CubKilla
You vote for Sox players no matter what! I'm sorry..... I have to disagree with you here. If I vote, I vote for whom I think is the most deserving, up to that point, for that particular season. How many years did Wade Boggs get voted a starter in his twilight years based simply on name recognition? Just because Royce K-layton was a member of the White Sox, wouldn't you be a bit embarrassed if he came to the dish in the All-Star game and the graphic showed a whopping .110 BA? Or how about Mark Johnson? I would. It would tell the world that the White Sox fans were tools. Vote for the White Sox players that deserve to be there and vote twice for those where you can state a case for them being there.

I would also have to disagree. Didn't we have an argument before about the All-Star game? It went something like: they shouldn't require a player from every team, just whos the most deserving.. Well I think that would be the same argument here, it should be the ones that are most deserving. And of course if one of our players are deserving, than I vote for them over all others. But voting for a guy like Clayton or Josh Paul will just be a wasted vote cause they're never gonna make it. I'd rather vote for other players that I like on other teams. Isnt it all about voting for the players you like? And I do not like ALL sox players. IF we got a guy like Clayton in the All-Star game last year, that would a be team disgrace, not team pride. cwsox
You are taking this too seriously. When I was a kid the Cincinnati fans packed the voting which is why they took the vote away from the fans. Bowie Kuhn returned fan voting to be more fan friendly. And when we had fan voting and when we didn't and when we did again it is all about politics. Consider every year the outrage how how "so and so" got elected or why "so and so" was picked. What do I give a f*** that Nomar may be a better than shortstop than whoever is on the ballot for the Sox that year? Is any Boston fan saying, hey, that Ordonez is under recognised and a top player in the league and is surely deserving so I will vote for Mags. Hell no! Is any Yankee fan saying, hey, that Ordonez is under recognised and a top player in the league and is surely deserving so I will vote for Mags. Hell no! Is any KC fan saying, hey, that Ordonez is under recognised and a top player in the league and is surely deserving so I will vote for Mags. Hell no! Is any Seattle fan saying, hey, that Ordonez is under recognised and a top player in the league and is surely deserving so I will vote for Mags. Hell no! That is my point before I list all the Al teams. Why should I vote for their guy when my guy ends up 12th or whatever ever though he deserves it and doesn't even get picked as an alternate? All it is a popularity contest. You know damn well that Nomar can miss April and May and June and still get elected in July because he has the name. You know who has been All Stars through the years. Let's get real. The purist argument is nice in theory. Oh that it would be so every voter out there would be taking the time to review every stat and make an imparitial, objective vote. Clap your hands and Tinkerbell will live! I don't live in Never Never land however where only the purists vote. I cast my every vote for every Sox player and write in where I have to. Support your own, because no one else is supporting us, and everyone else is supporting their own.
