elrockinMT
Jon k's Stairs on a 3-2 pitch fasball high up in the zone. Great job of pitching. We need more of that every game.
southsider2k5
Roughly 6.5 this year. If you want to nitpick over .45 of an inning, have at it.
qwerty
I don't care if he went nine innings every game he would still give up about 5 runs a game on average. People always think when he goes 6 innings and gives up 4 that is a decent to good start but not when he was out third starter coming into the season. Even as our fourth starter that is bad. He may give us alot of innings but if he is giving up alot of runs while doing so it doesn't matter when we have to rely on him to win us more games than he losses. elrockinMT
Jon only has about 80 pitches thrown today. I think that Jon wants to match Mark's performance of last night, which by the way I saw on WGN thank you very much. Does Jon have a complete game this year? He is really looking great. southsider2k5
Valentin does yard work!!!! 4-1 Sox!!!
elrockinMT
Jose with a homer for #29 on the year. That is his career high. I liked that fact he made Anderson work through 7 picthes and he laid off the low one. Congratulations to Jose!
southsider2k5
Borchard follows it up with a ball about 5 rows short of the concourse in LF. 5-1 SOX!!!!
qwerty
I hate borchard. Probally making the sox decide if they should keep him or not. Can only hope he does not stay.
elrockinMT
Joe Borchard follows witha homer and he did the same thing. He made Anderson work and waited for his pitch. Looking good today Sox!
elrockinMT
The Sox as a team have hit over 220 homers, I think around 227 counting today, but maybe more. Do you realize what those totals might be with Hurt and maggs healthy and in the line up every day? Southside hit men redux!
southsider2k5
Is Borchard showing signs of life? That gives him hits in 5 straight games and 8 of 9. He has raised his average about 20 points over that stretch with a couple of HRs, 2 doubles, and 8 RBIs. I hope it means good things to come for Joe, but I am not going to hold my breath. Chisoxrd5
I think Borchard has started to settle in a "little"...He is making strides and hopefully can contribute next season Now for Valentin...did it bother anyone other than me when he counted down his homerun total into the camera? Because I could care less that he has 29 homeruns! :fyou Maybe he would be hitting .260 instead of .215 if he had 15-20 homeruns instead of
elrockinMT
I am thinking along those same lines about Borchard, Southsider2k4. I am cautiously optimistic about him for next season. I am afraid Maggs wont be back and we will be needing Joe B in RF. He has been looling much better at the plate the last couple weeks. fathom
And this is the exact reason why myself and others were b****ing that Borchard was being benched a few weeks ago. If the Sox decide to keep him next year, fine. However, the last week or so has done nothing but increase hit trade value.
fathom
With Ordonez likely gone, would everyone rather have Borchard or Everett in RF? Keep in mind that Everett will be making about 4 million. For my money, I would take Borchard over Everett in a heartbeat. I don't think the Sox pitching staff could handle having Everett in RF on a regular basis. Give me Borchard and see if you can get out of Everett's deal and use that 4 million for other holes. But, what I think Jose does is show some fire and confidence. He has now set a personal record for homers in a season. He may be hitting .215, but the guy never gives up and doesn't make excuses. That is almost a tough call for me. Really I would rather see somekind of a Borchard/RH RFer platoon out there, and save the $3.5 million over Everett. I think we have seen this year that he is lazy if he isn't on a winning team. His weight and conditioning have shown that, and I think that is why he was injury prone this year. I definately would rather see the $3.5 mil put into another arm for the pen.
elrockinMT
Paulie must have forgot he needs to swing the bat. Caught looking on 3 strikes. Hopefully Jon comes out for the 9th. I wonder when the last time the Sox had back-to-back complete games?

Carl has not impressed me this year like he did in '03. Maybe the injuries have really taken their toll on him, but I think in building a winning team that Borchard gets the call in RF. danman31
So much for the complete game, now let's not let the reliever jack up his ERA in this inning.
southsider2k5
Damn. Jon deserved a shot at finishing it out. You could even read his lips when Ozzie came to the mound "I want to finish it out" Great outing by Jon, and he gets a big standing O from the crowd for it. elrockinMT
Jon deserves extra kudos for his effort. Every good outing from Jon and/or any other Sox player just builds up some hope for next year. I am tired of waiting for that championship, but hope springs eternal every new season. I root for our team to have great outings through the end of the season and let's get ready for next year.
