SoxFan562004
Just seeing if it's just me, or if other people think Bill Simmons columns on ESPN.com haven't been as good/funny as they use to be. I thought it had to do with him working for Jimmy Kimmel and that was distracting him, but now that he doesn't have that job anymore, and he's been writing more for ESPN, his columns have been lame. He basically talks about gambling and how cool he is. Also another thing that is PISSING me off is that he's completely ripping off Adam Carolla (Loveline host and writer for Jimmy Kimmel). I listen to Loveline every night and think Carolla is one of the funniest people in the business, and he will say something and the next week it is in Simmons column. Even the tone of his writing is similar to how Carolla talks. I think this is a case of someone who wrote really well for about a year and has just been riding that for a long time. The Critic
Simmons is the KING. I haven't noticed any dropoff. He can make almost any topic funny and worth reading. I love his column and read it religiously! Sports Guy! Simmons, Corolla and Kimmel are friends, so I'm not surprised at all to see that he writes some of the same stuff Adam says. My buddies and I have catchphrases and opinions that we share, so I would assume that they do too - they just have theirs appear on multiple media formats. Not a big deal to me. He is back to writing like 3 columns a week, so generally he is going to have some less interesting stuff, but he is my favorite sports writer by far. Palehosefan
I enjoy reading his columns, but he comes off too arrogant sometimes for my taste. But overall I like most of his stuff. Especially about draft's and his dad's reaction to things.
