Butter Parque
Is Jacque Jones a FA, I didn't see his name on the FA list but everybody keeps talking about him like he's available. If he is, it should be our top priority to try and sign him, he's a grinder. He's ahving a bad year and should come at a cheaper cost. SuperSteve
Nope. But, likely to be traded.
santo=dorf
I thought he's more likely to be non-tendered.
Gene Honda Civic
Likely to be traded like Steve said... But, he's an outfield version of Jose Valentin. Strikes out a ton. Can't hit lefties. 3rd straight year of declining OPS. I only want him if he platoons, and he comes super cheap.
SuperSteve
I thought he's more likely to be non-tendered. That's a huge risk, and I have to doubt they will do that again with someone like that. See: David Ortiz.

fathom
First, Twins are unlikely to trade Jones to their biggest rivals. Also, Jones is likely to go to a team on the west coast (where he's from). A team like the Padres would make a lot of sense.

I don't think anyone implied he would come here. It was as a FA someone mentioned he'd come to the South Side.
santo=dorf
well if you can get something for him, why not, right? Maybe because the Twins already have 40 minor leaguers who are ready to play at the major league level. I wonder if the Twins still plan on non-tendering Johan Santana as rumored this off-season. GoodAsGould
according to the twins the indians are their biggest rivals

Guest JimH
.256 average and 115 strikeouts. Not so sure Jones is the type of player they're looking for.

santo=dorf
So you're saying they wouldn't want another one because they already have too many? No, I agree with you that it is better for Minnesota to trade him and get something for him. I was just thinking of the only reason why Minnesota might non-tender him. DBAHO
Jones will be traded, to make room for the resigning of Santana and Radke. They want to get Jason Kubel in the lineup as well.
WilliamTell
I can't stand Jauque Jones, his little bat flip after he hits a home run irritates me.
witesoxfan
according to the twins the indians are their biggest rivals Nope. Not true. You can tell by how hard they play who their biggest rivals are...the intensity level is up for their games against the Sox, and it is not so much against the Indians. They want to beat the White Sox...badly

If he is, it should be our top priority to try and sign him, he's a grinder. He's ahving a bad year and should come at a cheaper cost. I think he's in his final year of being arbitration eligible and under control. However their is always the possibility that the Twins non tender him, meaning he becomes a free agent. If he gets tendered and goes to arbitration then he'll get a one year deal and become a free agent next year. However, I expect the Twins to offer him a contract regardless. He has a ton of trade value. If they go deep in the playoffs, they may up their payroll resources and keep him (although they do have a ton of outfield depth..especially with Kuzner orKubel coming up or whatever his name is). I doubt he gets non tendered, soley because the TWins can definately get some value for him. If he does, then the Sox should get off their ass and go after him. I'd live with an OF of Jones, Lee, and Rowand. Then they can move Konerko if they want and go with Gloadie at 1B and spend the rest on pitching. Jones is a lefty in the middle of the lineup (could play CF or RF with Rowand at the other...left took, but Carlos wouldn't go anywhere) and GLoad as a leftie later in the lineup. Then potentially move Konerko or whomever else to another team. Find yourself a leadoff hitter and maybe add a catcher while your at it. Jones would definately be welcome here in my book. His average is down this year, but he's been banged up and is a good player.

You are not a big fan of valentin right? Because like someone mentioned he is basically valentin but just so happens to play a different position. DBAHO
For starters I don't think the Twinkies will deal with us. Plus what's the point in acquiring another outfielder, when we already have Lee, Everett and Rowand coming back for 2005. Unless one of those are moved, we should target pitching and infield help no doubt.
Chisoxfn
You are not a big fan of valentin right? Because like someone mentioned he is basically valentin but just so happens to play a different position. Nah, minus this year he is roughly a .300 hitter or near it (off the top of my head) and he plays awesome defense. I've seen him make so many great plays out in RF it blows my mind. I guess I see the fact that he doesn't draw all that many walks, but he is nothing like Jose, imo. This year he is banged up and because of it his average has suffered, but he hasn't shown that he is going to be a .240 some odd hitter with power. This guy has a .285 career batting average. However, I'd be blind if I ignored the fact that he needs to draw more walks.

Unless if he was a sonsistent .330 hitter his lack of walks with not matter but since he isn't it really hurts him. He does have excellent defense i will give you that much.
