Gene Honda Civic
and now the question becomes what is the new team name? Washington Grays = History Washington Generals Washington Monuments Washington Mass Destruction -- You could call them WMD. Washington Nationals Washington Lobbyists Washington Beltways Washington Federals The District Attorneys DC AC DC Talk DC Comics or Comix for those that like sports teams that don't end in S DC Superfriends DC Supreme 9 The Capital Offenses The Capital Punishment I can't claim credit for these, but I at least found them. jackie hayes
And... Omar Minaya has reportedly reached an agreement w/ the Mets: the link. They're demoting Duquette. Whether it's deserved or not, I'd be surprised if he accepts that.

Gene Honda Civic
And... Omar Minaya has reportedly reached an agreement w/ the Mets: the link. Minaya's first move should be to trade Duquette for a half case of PBR. That guy killed the Mets. Woo-hoo Victor Zambrano.

I still don't think Duquette had the final say in that deal, sumthin tells me Fred Wilpon made him do that to try and keep them in the Wild Card Race, which shows you how bad of an owner he is. It'll be interestin to see what happens with them in the off - season. They need a new GM now with Minaya leaving, and they could be MAJOR players in Free Agency. Yeah if they get a ticket base of 20-25 K they could double to triple their payroll, espesially when you factor in advertising revenues, and the fact that they would get TV and radio money again, they really could make a splash. southsider2k5
An interesting sidebar to all of this is the bribing that MLB did to get Angelos to accept this. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...yson&id=1888266
HuskyCaucasian
Washington Sentinals maybe? I would then demand them to wear Matrix like uniforms. lol
HuskyCaucasian
I should add this, I hoep and pray that they do not try and go after the Washington Senators name. let it die. Go another route. Be creative. They dont even need to have a name that reflects the city they play in.
The Critic
I bet they buy the name back, like MLB bought Angelos. Everything old is new again, the whole RETRO craze and everything. Two teams have failed there, so let's see if the third time is the charm. My condolences to the 3,000 Expos fans.

OldRetiredGuy
Maybe this time they'll make it. Seems like Baltimore's complaints are at least real enough for MLB to sell their souls. I thought there were better markets. Maybe this was to keep the anti-trust exemptions in place.
