The Critic
....OK, so the "comes up BIG" joke was weak...sorry.... But Bartolo shut the A's down last night while Mark Mulder continued his AWFUL late-season run. 0-4 with an 11+ ERA lately. Ugh.... Now the A's are on the brink of extinction. Guess this year, MONEY beats Moneyball, huh?

DBAHO
I still can't believe Colon is 18-12 with a 5.01 ERA Run support, he'd be getting a hell of a lot of it.
NUKE_CLEVELAND
Who'd of thought the A's would be having problems with their starters down the stretch. I'm really surprised by this. The A's are usually a great team down the stretch. Oh well, who gives a s*** anyway...... GO 'STROS!!!
Texsox
Colon pitches to the occassion. I think he's a better pitcher down the stretch, in big games then some Thursday night game in June. I always liked his attitude in tough situations.
witesoxfan
I still can't believe Colon is 18-12 with a 5.01 ERA His ERA in the second half has been under 4.00, and he has just been throwing the hell out of the ball. That, and him staying in to pitch longer has had a lot to do with him. It is simple logic...if you throw more innings, you will give up more runs(hence, the ERA goes up), but you will get more wins because you will give the bullpen less of a chance to blow it(hence more wins). Colon is a workhorse, and thus gets a lot of wins. That and the Angels offense is pretty damn good too.
santo=dorf
Run support, he'd be getting a hell of a lot of it. I thik it might be due to him being SO s***ty in the first half, even a great second half couldn't bring his overall numbers down. Texsox
I wouldn't be surprised to see him win a couple playoff games. I don't see that pressure ever gets to him.
DonkeyKongerko
Anaheim is 3 outs away from the title. And don't look now but SF is looking to tie for the NL West in game #162. Dodgers were up 3 games with 3 to play.
witesoxfan
Angels win. AL has all 4 playoff teams...though the matchups are not quite known yet. New York, Boston, Minnesota, and Anaheim.
DonkeyKongerko
Congrats to the Angels, they went into enemy territory and took that title outright from the A's. At least the A's showed some heart today, to lose 10-0 last night at home with the title on the line is just pathetic.

If any one factor could be attributed to their failures its the bullpen. 27 blown saves?! That's truly a shame. Now they can't choke their way out of the playoffs. Jordan4life_2007
Gotta give the Angels some serious props. Remember all the injuries they had earlier in the season? Congradulations to their team.
southsider2k5
Damn I can't believe how bad Oaklands big 3 was down the stretch. I wonder if it was injuries or fatigue?
DBAHO
One of them wont be in Oakland next season..... Zito I'd expect to be traded to the Mets or Orioles this off-season.

witesoxfan
That could be Kenny's big move, I wouldn't mind I don't think I want Zito. His career numbers suggest he's a solid pitcher...but he is a serious fly-ball pitcher. That would not bode well in USCF. FYI...Zito's career GO-AO is 0.78...this year it is, coincidentally, 0.78, was 0.88 in 2003, and was 0.75 in 2002, his Cy Young year. In fact, his GO-AO has never been close to 1, unless you count 2003. I don't want Zito at all.

The more I look at groundball to flyball pitchers, the more I like signing Lowe or even Clement if his arm is ok. Odalis Perez is still my first choice though.
