Cubs Party It Up!

Recommended Posts

Apparently these guys don't:

I was at Stanley's for sunday night liveband Karaoke. I couldn't believe these freakin' jokers were partying it up! Alou, Patterson, Barrett, Hawkins, Bako, Rusch, Mitre, Farnsworth were all there hanging out and makin' good with fans and all I wanted to do was punch em' in the face! And all the happy little Cubs fans were so glad to see them, puke! I'm never going back to the place. These guys really don't care!

You've got to be kidding, what are they suppose to do? Lock themselves in their basements and cry for the next couple months. The Cubs had a good season. Who knew how good the Cardinals were going to be. I think it'd help them get their minds off of it.

It was over for them on Friday. If there was sulking to be done, maybe they did their share on Friday and Saturday. How many days should they dwell? I don't mind them going out and getting blasted. It's been one hell of a pain in the ass season for them. You have to admit that.

WRONG!!!

All of the "experts" picked the Cubs to make and/or win the World Series this season, and they didn't even make the playoffs!

That makes it a failure season, not a good season!

But we as Sox fans have been saying that our biggest problem was that we were beaten up by injury. The Cubs also were torn apart by the injury bug, but they actually had guys stepping it up all damn year, unlike our side. The best thing the Cubs can do right now is get out there and be with the fans, IMO. That was a smart move by the team to be accessible to the fans. Can't stand the team, and am glad they are not going any further, but hats off to them for being in touch with the fans and hanging with them.

There's a thing called "drowning your sorrows". Maybe that was part of it.

Also, they're headed on vacation and this is the last they'll see of each other until February, if then. Surely some moves will be made and guys will be gone.

And hanging with the fans is always a good thing.

Can fault them for a lot of things over the past week, but this ain't one of them.

Sorry, but when it is over, it is over. People move on.

No matter how disappointing the end of the season may be, players on all teams will turn the page. It is just how it is and the Cubs are no different than anyone else.

Though I know the majority of Cub fans aren’t feeling very good right now; there really is nothing to be so depressed about. Life goes on and next year is another year. The Cubs are going to be a winning team for some time and we’re just going to hope they keep choking and choking. Their starting rotation for next year is good though this was they’re year to go all the way.

While I do basically agree with you, there is some cause for concern regarding the rotation.

They're almost certain to let Clement go.

Maddux will be one year older, and sometimes age hits a guy suddenly. He threw pretty well for them, but he did allow 35 homers, which is almost a dozen more than he ever had ina season before.

If they're counting on Angel Guzman, he's still a question mark from injury.

If they're counting on Ryan Dempster, he's still a question mark as far as starting, after his injury. They appear to be grooming him to close, so he may not even be in the conversation as far as starting goes.

They have a bunch of prospects, but as I like to say, "prospects are like suspects - line 5 of them up and maybe one will be The Guy".

Prior is suddenly a bit of an injury mystery as well.

So the rotation isn't as set in stone as it appeared to be when they acquired Maddux and were anointed "The Greatest 5-Man Rotation In Baseball History".

...funny how things work out, isn't it?.....

Though I hate the Cubs with a passion and wish they never get into the playoffs while I’m alive, the injury bug will always be lurking to bite somebody and it’s a disease that is hard to avoid. I also don’t like to wish any player bad luck but if Prior or Maddux get hurt (or Zambrano etc.) that will really hurt their chances for next year as well.
