Steff
Or, take it from another perspective...how would signing Carl Pavano and Carlos Beltran (for example) hurt the Sox' chances of contending? It wouldn't. But according to you it won't happen. b****, moan, b****, moan, b****, moan.... toss in a little ... and what do you get... I4E. Post those winning lotto numbers when you get a chance.. k.. thanks. :headshake
Steff
And how do we get the talent, if we have nothing to trade for it? What the hell was wrong with the talent this year..? The Sox knew Loaiza would implode? Knew Frank & Maggs would go down with injuries? Knew Crede would stink worse than 6 month old grouper left on a Louisiana dock? Those 4 things didn't happen.. the Sox win the division. Without a 5th starter, too.

If you'd read what I'd said instead of staunchly defending your "Reinsdorf is Cheap" bunker, you'd see that I've said they need to scout and draft better. Have you always been so negative? Guest JimH
What has he shown you to make you think otherwise? MVP of 2 minor leagues, for one. Watching how his defense doesn't suffer after a bad AB, for two. That shows mental toughness. Watching how he hit better in the clutch than other situations vs. the other way around. That's three, want more? And how do you know he will always suck?

CWSGuy406
The guys they brought in (everett/Alomar) are washed up! We need players, not has-beens! Mr. Armchair GM, I'm still waiting for what you would have done. And don't give me "They Should have traded for Manny and Melvin Mora and Randy Johnson and Mark Prior and Eric Gagne" bulls*** either. Give me specific names, who you're trading, who you're trading for. .......... .......... Waiting...

Gene Honda Civic
Not to beat a dead horse but, Houston is the 4th largest market in baseball. The top three markets all are divided in 2, (NY, LA/ANA, CHI) meaning that Houston is the top undivided market in baseball. They are not a "small market" team by any stretch of the imagination.... I will now go back to where I left of back on page 5 or 6 somwhere, I'm sure I will chime back in to revive the argument Edit: no need to chime back in, you all did a fabulous job. Rex Hudler
Jim, Steff, there are some people in the world that aren't happy unless they are b****ing. They are the miserable type that if you tell them the grass is green, show them many other things that are green and even hold a color chart next to the green grass, they will tell you it is blue. You can't reason with them, can't talk logic with them. Not matter what evidence you offer, they can't see it because they refuse to do so. Unfortunately the world is full of narrow minded people that are just along for the ride and have no desire to accept reality. Everyone knows you are right, so why beat the dead horse? Chalk it up to the source and move on. FWIW, you have done a helluva a job arguing your point. Jim, you even almost had me convinced that acquiring Everett a 2nd time was a good move. ;-)

Walker would not waive his NT clause, and the Sox did try for Nomar.. too bad the Red Sox were to wrapped up in also trying to get ARod at the time. Could it be they wanted to play on a team with even a remote chance of making the playoffs? I am tired of this stupid, banging my head against a wall, thread. I cannot get it through to you people that, as long as you blindly support the team, they have no incentive to make the product better. I am (was) as guilty of this as any of you. I bought a 9-game package last year, as I have over the past 3 -5 years, I have purchased several Sox caps, jerseys, jackets, etc. I watch as many games as I can on tv (and will continue to do so), but I'm not "giving" more to the team until I see the team "giving" us more. Have a nice day/weekend.
