Jordan4life_2007
My top 8 in the east go Pistons Heat Pacers Bucks Celtics Knicks Sixers Wizards Hopefully the Bulls can sneak in there. My top 8 in the west go Spurs Timberwolves Kings Mavs Rockets Nuggets Suns Jazz Lottery time for the Flakers. I predict the Spurs to beat the Pistons in 7 games for the title. hammerhead johnson
I like Washington's core (Brown, Arenas, Jamison) and their second tier guys (Hayes, Hughes, Peeler, Thomas, Jeffries, Dixon). I think that they can win that division with a 44-38 record, because the Heat have absolutely no depth or chemistry and you know that Shaq will miss at least 20 games with injuries. danman31
Hammerhead, you realize that's not possible? You have way too many winning teams. Somehow the entire league is 30 games over .500, lol. Putting together a list with projected records is time-consuming as is, but adding up (the difference between) every win and loss to make sure that everything balances out? I'm working on it. hammerhead johnson
Yep, I have the West at 96 games over .500, and the East at 66 games under .500. But... Winning teams out East: 148 games over .500 Winning teams out West: 140 games over .500 But Dan's right...I'm being a tad liberal with my predictions. Let's call it 81 games over for the West, and 81 games under for the East. 9th and 10th seed teams out West will have the same records as 5th and 6th seed teams in the East. A quick glance at just about every Western Conference team's roster will tell you all you need to know: the West has all of the depth. But the East has the two best teams in the league as far as I'm concerned.
danman31
But Dan's right...I'm being a tad liberal with my predictions. I just wanted to make sure you knew that it was impossible. To be honest, I think you need at least 1 or 2 60 win teams and more teams under 30 wins. The league is never that even.

I hear you, although I don't think any team will approach 60 wins this year, but I could be wrong. And I only have two teams winning less than 30 games...that can't be accurate. Add the Clippers and Hawks to that group, I suppose.

hammerhead johnson
The Celtics are getting a lot more respect than I figured they would. I have them at 41-41 with a new coach (Rivers) and this depth chart: PG: Payton/West SG: Pierce/Allen SF: Welsch/Davis PF: Jefferson/Lafrentz C: Blount Delonte West and Al Jefferson will have to kick some ass right off the bat if this team expects to win that division. It could happen, but I doubt it. I see that they got Gugliotta...hmmm.

hammerhead johnson
The 76ers appear to have that division...they have some depth with Robinson, McKie, and Williamson on the bench. I sure as hell hope that Robinson doesn't start. PG: Iverson/Ollie SG: Green/McKie SF: Iguodala/Robinson/Salmons PF: Thomas/Williamson/ C: Dalembert/Jackson Yep, Iverson is moving back to PG for those that are unaware...O'Brien's system doesn't require a true point guard. I'm liking this team. I wish that the Bulls had a nucleus like this, minus Iverson and Robinson. They were calling Iguodala the next Scottie Pippen in the draft (take it for what it's worth), and Samuel Dalembert is an absolute freak on the defensive end. They won't make any noise in the playoffs, but I think they'll win that terrible Atlantic division.
hammerhead johnson
No, because they will probably suck. I don't see us holding anyone to under 100 points. In fact, the 20-62 record that I'm predicting is probably too generous. They might compete with the Bobcats for worst record in the league. That bench might be worse that Charlotte's bench -- an expansion team. Plus, they have Rasual Butler starting and Damon Jones scheduled for a lot of minutes...show me more is all that I can say. Those guys are far from proven, and they weren't billed as anything to begin with. I have them winning 44 games, plus or minus two.

hammerhead johnson
i really think the bulls are going to surprise a lot of you this year and i mean that in the 28-32 win range We are so weak defensively that it's scary. Kirk Hinrich is a smart defensive player, but he has the white man's disease (too slow to play effective man to man on your better point guards). Chandler will miss plenty of time with injuries...that's a given. There's not much to root for here...Paxson is doing all that he can to make the situation even worse by drafting a 6'2 shooting guard and a piss poor defender in Luol Deng. I dunno what he's smoking, but he better kick the habit.

Our success rides on Curry's shoulders, which scares me, but if he is up to the task, we could be solid. JMO, by the way, you are entitled to yours. Palehosefan
Damon Jones averaged 7 points and 5.8 assists last year in 24.6 minutes per game. Doleac averaged 4.5ppg and 3.7rpg in 14 minutes, which is all that they need this year. Wesley Person averaged 5.8 points in 18 minutes off the bench last year, Malik gives 4.2 points and 2.7 boards off the bench in 13 mins. Laetner gave 6 pionts and 4.8 boards a game in 20 minutes last year, Keyon Dooling added over 6 points and 2 assists in 20 minutes of action. If Charlotte can get that production out of their bench, they will win more games than anyone thought. Here is the minutes the starters will likely get a game. Wade 37mpg(can put up 18-20 ppg, 4rpg, and 5 assists) Jones 36mpg(can put up 17-18 ppg, 4rpg, and 3 assists) Butler 25mpg(can put up 10ppg 5rpg, and 3 assists a game. Haslem 25mpg(can put up 8ppg 7rpg) Shaq 37mpg (can put up 24ppg, 11rpg, and 4 assists) Thats 160 of 240 minutes in a game, I didn't even need to stretch the minutes from last year. Gave Wade a few more due to experience and Eddie 1 less to make up for it. Thats also 77 points from the starters without stretching it. Shaq is going against East centers and Eddie will get better 3 point shots due to Shaq, not to mention Shaq has lost 30 pounds so far and Rasual Butler is a very good 3 point shooter. Get 15-18 points from the bench and they will be fine. Charlotte might have as good of a bench, but I don't see Shaq, Wade, and Jones on their roster.
