qwerty
I would absolutely die if we were able to sign Omar, I don't thnk it's that big of a risk. At your most important position in the infield, we would have one of (if not) the best fielder in the game. Yeah, he's lost some range, but you don't see him make silly errors like Valentin. He could be great in the 2 hole and make some solid contact. He could also help Uribe and Harris. Omar is a perfect fit for the White Sox. I would have Willie and Uribe split time at 2nd if Omar was here. If one totally outplayes the other, then that one should get the job. But right now, I think they're both equal. Who do you suggest leads-off if we got vizquel? Because rowand is not an ideal lead-off hitter and willie is yet to earn it.

I'm just throwing this out there cause it seems like Pierre might be on the trading block, even though it would never happen could you imagine a 1-2 of Pierre and Vizquel. I would still have to put Willie in the leadoff spot because of his speed and the fact that he started to show some plate discipline. If he falters though, I wouldn't hesitate to go with Rowand. He hit well there.

I do not believe that he is on the trading block. I mean come on you do not trade a top 5 lead-off hitter that is not making an extraordinary amount of money. If he is batting ninth we would have a damn strong offense.
Butter Parque
Its gonna take Ozzie taking him under his wing again. Coming in early to ST and staying late. He just has to keep working at it. Obviously Ozzie saw something in him to pay so much attention to him. Eventually it will all come together for Willie, I have confidence in him. I think though, the only way we're going to be successful is by having Willie in the leadoff spot. He is capable of doing too much, it just has to click for him. whitesox61382
I have been singing Polanco's praises for years now, and always thought that he could be a sleeper that the Sox should pursue, similar to Carlos Guillen last year(I just wish the Sox organization would have listened to me on that one). The first thing that catches my eye is that he hasn't hit below .288 in 5 years(career .295 hitter). He has decent pop, runs well, has a good eye, is solid defensively, and can play multiple positions. He would be a great addition. With that said, my #1 choice is Furcal. He is EXACTLY what the Sox need, and is easily one of the top 5 leadoff hitters in the game. He hits for average(has never hit below .275), he has some pop(has averaged 50 extra base hits the past 3 years), has good plate disipline(averages about 60 BB a year), has great speed(20+ SB every year in the majors 54-62 last 2 years), and he handles the bat well. His defense is solid although he can be error prone(ala Valentin). I think Furcal would be a perfect fit in Chicago. With that said, the question is, will Atlanta trade him? While it is unlikely there is a posibility that they could move him to fix other holes. They do have a good looking SS prospect by the name of Betemit who could replace Furcal. The Sox also have some pieces that might interest the Braves. They Braves might want more offense at 1B or whether they have faith in LaRoche. They could be interested in Konerko. I am sure that Drew will be their top offensive priority, but after the year he had, he could be a little too much for Atlanta. They might settle for a guy like Lee as a replacement. 3/5th the Braves rotation are FA(Wright, Ortiz, and Byrd). I can see the Braves resigning Wright and letting Ortiz walk. Byrd is a question mark depending on the kind of money he wants. With that said, the Braves could be in the market for a cheap starter, especially if they spend big bucks keeping Drew or adding another offensive player. This is why I think the Braves would be interrested in Garland. I think Garland could excel in the NL, in a pitchers park, and working under Mazzone. The Braves have some pieces besides Furcal that could interest the Sox. Smoltz, assuming his option is picked up, to close. LaRoche, if Konerko is traded he could be a cheap option along with Gload. Cruz, the former Cubs pitcher put together a great season(I doubt the Braves move him). Estrada, the AS catcher would be a welcomed addition on the southside(highly unlike the Braves move him). So there are the makings of blockbluster on both sides. In the end, I expect a trade between Baltimore and the Sox. I think it would be a perfect match. With the Sox getting a package centered around Julio and one of their 2B(Hairston/Roberts) for either Lee or Konerko.

I wonder how Furcal's troubles (the multiple DUI's) might affect Atlanta's decision making, and/or any interest from the White Sox or other teams. One thing that's been said by Reinsdorf and KW is they always look for character people. Furcal has made some mistakes, to be sure. I'm not sure how that plays out. As for his baseball talent, I agree, he is very good.
witesoxfan
You say the craziest things. OK, so maybe they'd finish in 3rd, behind Cleveland and Minnesota. Getting a MI is probably the second biggest need of the team(#1 being a starting pitcher). If we go into next year with Uribe-Harris up the middle, Beltran damn well better be patroling CF(or Drew in RF, either/or).
AddisonStSox
Talks up the Atlanta deals, and then says we are going to make the trade with the O's lol lol. Furcal would look great in Black and White, but I just don't see it happening. The trade with the O's however, looks very possible. If they offered Hariston or Roberts, I would prefer Roberts, thats just me. I think Hariston would excel here as well. With Hariston playing center and leading off, we would have two big holes answered in one relatively inexpensive player...a Sox type of guy if there ever was one. Here is my question to all the Hariston backers though...do we have any evidence that KW is interested? I just haven't read anything saying that he is a target...if anyone has a link I'd appreciate it, thanks.
3E8
Furcal would look great in Black and White, but I just don't see it happening. Would? I saw him in his prison garbs, and let me tell you, he looks amazing.

Rex Hudler
Yeah Fucal is a good idea... I mean the Chicago media doesn't portray us a big enough thugs as it is. Think of it this way....... The Sox could be viewed as helping Furcal get over his problem by signing him. He won't need a car in Chicago. He can live in an apt. downtown and take cabs or the train whereever he needs to go. If he doesn't have a car, then DUI's are A LOT tougher to get.
YASNY
I could see the Braves being interested in either Konerko or Lee. But Furcal should be the main piece of a package to acquire either of them. I see no reason to even bring up Garland's name unless they are talking about Estrada or Jones or whatever.
