Woman dies in Red Sox celebration

Recommended Posts

I hate both sides involved with these stupid riots.

It's one thing to celebrate as a group, but everyone has to get stupid and destructive. I don't get the corellation between joy and making fires/flipping over cars. People need to be smarter and more responsible, though I know it will not happen. Not even after something like this.

At the same time, I've been around these kinds of things before, not this year but last year when Boston finished off Oakland. The cops are so trigger-happy, they will not hesitate to beat up/arrest anyone who looks at them funny. It's like a mini-war breaks out every time something big happens.

I was downtown for one of the Bulls celebratons and I swear I was scared to death I was going to be shot.. by the COPS! We were walking to a bus (there were about 25 of us that had gone together) and they thought we were a "mob" walking across the street from Chelios' bar. Made us get on the ground, face down and everything. I was scared s***less.

I could see how it was skewd as a mob. We get all kinds of commercials and talks here at State because of the history of rioting.

There were 10 and 12 year olds in the group with their parents. The bus was 20 feet from us. I can understand their logic.. but they could have handled it much better than forcing all of us down onto the street. They ask no questions, and we were not being loud. It just pissed me off that they took the "get down or we'll shoot" attitude rather than.. "hmm.. I see youngins with that group.. maybe they aren't causing trouble.."

I was on Rush at Division during one of the Bulls celebrations. The crowd was cool for about an hour then things started to get out of hand. I always thought it was stupid to put cops on horseback until that night. The cops rounded the corner, chest to chest, atop those horses and the crowd quickly parted and things simmered down.

Until a cab was turned over.

Tragedy.  And shot in the eye with a nonlethal bullet, I just hope she didn't suffer too much.  Someone died in the Patriots Super Bowl celebration too.  Are the sports fans there that starved for success that they must resort to rioting?

Yeah someone died in January during the "riot". There wasn't nearly as much of a police presence, and someone drove their car into a crowd, killing one man. That's why I think there needs to be police around for these things, but they need to remember that they're the ones with the body armor.
