How about you send some troops to help the cause?

Worried it could be shut out of business deals in postwar Iraq), France is drawing up plans to win French companies access to lucrative oil and reconstruction contracts, officials said Tuesday.

Some French are concerned that a U.S.-led administration in Iraq will favor companies from the United States and other pro-war countries while penalizing companies from France and other war opponents.

Well if france sends toops i would like that very much, but if they just want the oil then they are goin into this for the wrong reason i think.

THIS WAR SHOULD NOT BE ABOUT OIL TO ANYONE IN IT.

Hey France, help or take a hike! You cant chicken out on war and then ask to get the benefits when were all done. It doesnt work like that. I now hate the French even more!

I know that in World War 2 it sure did seem like France chickened out and folded letting the Nazis trample them, but I'm not so sure that's the case here. I'm not a big France fan but I do believe they have other reasons for not going other than being chickens. If anything Chirac is taking a big risk in not going, politics wise.

Chirac and Saddam have been bosom buddies since the mid-70's. As with all countries, big business took precedence over 50,000 dead Americans from WWII and the fact that France was supposed to be the US ally.

Big business has trumped US allies too. (Remember we did sell weapons to Saddam in the 80s knowing he was a dictator) or overthrowing Allende in Chile because US corporations owned over 80% of the copper and he wanted to nationalize the copper industry or the Marines being sent into Guatemala to stop a peasant revolt and overthrow the Guatemalan government (United Fruit was purchasing land from Guatemala very cheaply and began to own over 30% of Guatemala. So, the government asked that they could buy back some of the land at the price UF was buying from them. But UF said that price was wrong and demanded the government pay more. The Guatemalans refused and the US sent in the Marines which overthrew the Guatemalan government.

Business interests play a HUGE role in politics. Hell, oil is one of the underlying reasons we are invading Iraq anyways (not the main one, but it definitely an influence)

to put it mildly, yeah. :headbang

however, if this war was not to make any profits then why should we not let france companies help in the reconstruction?

Well, thats fine if he doesnt want to go to war, but he cant come in and reap the benfits the war has on the world once its over. It doesnt work that way. If ya want the benfits, youre gonna have to make sacrifices...

BORDEAUX, France — Vandals in southwest Bordeaux torched a replica of the Statue of Liberty and cracked the pedestal of a plaque honoring victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

I wonder if those French idiots realize who made the Statue of Liberty...

Ooh, but the whole thing with the Sept 11 pedestal pisses me off. Who do these cowardly maggots think they are? To disrespect the dead like that, how French of them...

How many people from France do you know? If you said that it was probably black people who did it you'd get jumped on for being racist, but you can trash the French. Here's a thought, maybe it was some American(or anyone) vandals that cracked the statue? Sorry if I offend anyone but I am quite tired of this constant French attack and sometimes you have to put things in terms others understand to make a point.
