Cali
Just saw this tonight, and really liked it. It's the new movie from Alexander Payne (Election, About Schmidt) It's really well written, very funny and poignant. Made me wish I knew more about wine than I do, which is absolutley nothing. Great performence from Paul Giamatti, and Thomas Hayden Church in a supporting role. The actual wine tasting scenes with Giamatti and Church are great. I'd put it in my top movies seen this year along with Garden State and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Brian
The trailer looks good. Wish we got movies like that here in Chicago so early. "If anybody order Merlot, I'm outta there!"
The Bones
Saw this movie tonight, one of my favorites of the year along with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Giamatti was great, loved him in American Splendor as well. I'm gonna have to check out some of his other movies.

Actually, the quote is... "And if they want to drink merlot, we're drinking merlot." "I am not drinking any merlot!"
Spiff
"No, if anyone orders merlot, I'm leaving. I am NOT drinking any f***ing merlot!" I liked it alot, it moves slow, but like everyone else said it's got really good writing. Also, I liked how it mentioned Bukowski. The flow of this movie was sorta like one of his books. If you can't remember what part I'm talking about, it's where Giamatti says he's a stain on a napkin on a garbage dump etc. Interesting aside: Giamatti's father Bart was the commisioner who banned Pete Rose. Cali
This thread proves why I love living in LA sometimes. I started the thread in late October and in early December someone responds that they saw it. Gotta love the phrase "Opening in New York and L.A. earlier date, and a later date everywhere else" A perfect example is going to be Life Aquatic it comes out on the 10th here and in New York but Christmas eveywhere else.
