qwerty
Tino martinez's option has been declined. Devil Rays declined first baseman Tino Martinez's $8 million option for 2005. Tino gets a $1 million buyout. The Rays will try to re-sign him, maybe for something in the $2 million range. A couple of his former teams, the Yankees and Mariners, might also have interest in bringing him back. Nov. 1 - 4:48 pm et From rotoworld. Gene Honda Civic
Hidalgo and Lieter should both be bought out by the end of the week. Lieter should have a new contract in hand though, Hidalgo will probably test the free agent waters before coming back to the Mets. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...7p-212583c.html

toasty
Its been rumored for the longest time KW was trying to get Ortiz. I believe the trade was Ortiz for Jose Valentin last year...I could be wrong though. I would like to see him here if he is willing to be in the pen. Don't need another Schoney though....refusing anything but being a starter. i think you have your ortiz's confused.... kw wanted russ ortiz from atl, not ramon from ana
witesoxfan
i think you have your ortiz's confused.... kw wanted russ ortiz from atl, not ramon from ana There were rumors of both coming to Chicago at one point or another. KW almost got Russ from San Fran 2 years ago for Konerko, but Atlanta swooped in at the last second and picked him up, and there were the Maggs plus some for Ortiz and Jones talks this past year. There was also a (bad) rumor of a Jose Valentin for Ramon Ortiz swap with Anaheim last year If I had it my way...both of those Ortiz's would be pitching against us at USCF next year, because we would probably hit the s*** out of them. Punch and Judy Garland
Didn't Borders have an awful defensive game in the ALDS? He was wuite a player at one time though. Would have fit on a grinder team perfectly (him and Dutch Daulton)

witesoxfan
The Giants signed Deivi Cruz to a one year $800k deal on Nov 3rd. SF Gate Article The Giants are so stupid, now they have like 4 guys tied up who are starting MI's(Vizquel, Durham, Alfonso, and Cruz). I can see Cruz being a guy that plays a little bit of everything this year...probably a little 3B and a little OF along with 2B and SS, but they do have to get rid of one of Durham and Alfonso before the start of the year and they will not get a lot for either of them.
