whitesox91403
This may have been covered at some point during the season, I don't know, I'm still fairly new here. But why did Kelly Wunsch spend almost the entire year in Charlotte? I never understood why he wasn't pitching for The Sox last season. I'm pretty sure he would have done better out of the bullpen that some did that we had in there. Anyone know the reason?
DBAHO
Pretty much had a dead arm, wasn't throwing harder than 81MPH I think, and he had a falling out with KW in spring training.
southsider2k5
Supposedly the falling out story has been debunked by both sides... FWIW. The dead arm is definately true.
Steff
Kelly's going to St Louis.. where he will prove the "dead arm" to be wrong and pitch in the WS next year.
Brian
Kelly's going to St Louis.. where he will prove the "dead arm" to be wrong and pitch in the WS next year. Right, and Reiny does own the Sox 100%
santo=dorf
We also had a trade setup back in Spring where Kelly would be going to Boston in exchange for Mark Bellhorn, but then Kelly claimed he was hurt.

OK.. which is it.. he "claimed" he was hurt.. or the "dead arm" is fact..?? :rolly
Chisoxfn
Their were numerous reasons for Kelly not pitching this year, all of them health related. First off he did suffer from the dead arm and battled through a lot of other arm related injuries as well. Even when he was pitching last year he was unable to pitch more then 2 times a week and wasn't very effective when he was in. I do wish Kelly nothing but the best. He is a class act. Also, their wasn't really much of a fall out.

santo=dorf
OK.. which is it.. he "claimed" he was hurt.. or the "dead arm" is fact..?? :rolly I shouldn't have used the word "claimed." He had a dead arm, but didn't come out with the injury until the Sox were close to trading him to Boston. Also, how does one suffer a dead arm if he only averages a little over 2/3of an inning per outing for his career? The guy pitches 2IP max per week. I won't miss him. So... the Sox are trying to trade him.. and not disclose that information.. and Kelly is the bad guy for it coming out..? For the record.. I think the trade was BS. Kelly was sent down to rot because he's the player rep and that's what happens to the player reps.

Reinsdorf was on the Score a few after Kelly going talking about how they had a deal setup, but it fell apart due to an injury.

For now, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I just don't see Kelly making much of an impact as a Major League pitcher again. He was marginal in the first place.
